so is Lent...I don't belong to any religion or anything but i hear fasting is good for the soul, builds character an wat not...
so for the nex how much odd days till easter lemme hear wha allyuh plan on givin up/ or wat allyuh plan to give up an cyar make....
an i hear u doh have to be christian to fast fuh lent...so meh mudder say...i giving up fish..

Interesting a man with no religion posted this thread.... as for you giving up fish, i'll have to look at it as you really like fish and thus giving it up is a sacrifice. Otherwise you're making fun of ppl and we won't tolerate that on the forum. Anywho's:
No meat on weds, fri and sun.
no drinking and partying (whether fete or otherwise)
That's it so far.

Well, I'm not really super-religious or anything.... but still, I try to fast and what not, thus far ive given up on alcho (I decided that jouvert morning....and i doubt i'll stop just at lent, its going to be a long time since i drink again), doing 'stuff' with the gf, well nothing more than hugs and kisses if you know what i mean...if you dont...well you dont deserve to, and last and not least...coke...yup, thats it...

well for me i am roman catholic and i follow lent.

this year im sacrificing meat.
alco, certain adult acts lol , and also as well being so damn negative what ppl fail to realize that fasting is not what you give up alone but its also your attude and well being were not perfect but the most we can do is try to fix ourselves one day at a time ..

I not really sure about what to give up for Lent...it supposed to be a sacrifice that you making ent? But the things that most ppl give up for Lent really wouldn't be hard for me to give up. I doh eat meat, so thas not even a option. Alcohol just too easy too give - thas not much of a sacrifice for me. The only big sacrifice would be chocolate. But I KNOW that it impossible for me to go so long without...I still in the process of deciding what I should forgo.

WHOA there neo... hmm interesting ppl saying things to suggest they expect to get something back from this... sacrifice for LENT is an act done not just to improve onself (though that may be a positive side effect) but it's ultimately an offering to GOD. A sign that you are following in the eg of Jesus as a means to amend your sinfull ways... at least along those lines. Lent isn't supposed to be about getting something back, its about giving back to GOD for ALL the things you already have and take for granted. It's also written in the bible that those who fast or pray ferverously and make it known that they are doing all these things have already had their reward and that they can expect none when time ends. The things you do and the sacrifices you make are to be done in secret (although this thread somewhat blows that concept away). The point is, sure you can say ur doing x y and z just be discrete and do it for the improvement of ur relationship with GOD, NOT to show the world... hey LOOK at what I AM DOING, I'M SO COOL and Have such STRENGTH OF CHARACTER... *steups* ppl that do that I can't stand.

you dont get back anything from this besides the feeling that your stronger even though thats how you werebefore and yes as for me a catholic and w1ny its has the deeper religous meaning to it self achievment is only so much of lent.

I ate meat about a week or two into lent.......wasn't my fault i was working overtime and thaz all they had at that hour
