Pirates release fully cracked Vista install

Ultimate hacked out-of-the-box

By Dean Pullen: Thursday 17 May 2007, 10:06
DISCUSSING PIRATED software is still fairly taboo within the press, but sometimes a scene release is worthy of note, despite the influx of staunch anti-piracy e-mails that will flood our in-box. Don't forget, we don't support piracy, we're only reporting the news.

A widely available release, located at the usual pirate havens, from a scene group entitled 'NoPE' (which doesn't appear to have released much else) has quickly become the most highly sought-after asset of eye-patched, peg-legged, shoulder-mounted-parrot pirate types.

Vista has been leaked in every conceivable form and in all its various releases and flavours, but has still remained difficult to crack for the average swashbuckling black-beard.

Various timer programs forcing the activation to hold off indefinitely and other cracks haven't come close to the efficiency of the recent OEM BIOS emulation tool-kit that has floated about - but which is significantly more difficult to use that a 'normal' crack or serial.

The NoPE release has a major key difference to other previous pirated copies of Vista - it is completely cracked, the product appears activated, updates work, and no key needs to be entered, straight from the installation media without any effort on the part of the pirate.

We presume that the hackers have managed to replace the Vista image on the DVD, with the pre-cracked version. Microsoft moved to an image-based install with Microsoft Vista, as opposed to the usual convoluted set up process.

Several readers have reported it working perfectly.

It's taken a few months since the launch of Windows Vista, but the product now seems to be successfully cracked, and even simpler to install than previous leaked copies of WindowsXP - which always required a serial.

It remains to be seen if Microsoft's new anti-piracy measures, coupled with Windows Update, will be able to counter-measure this new release, even so, now the pirates have found a method to install pre-cracked versions on the installation media, Microsoft will have a significant fight on its hands to keep Vista piracy-free. µ

Well, it didnt take em long now did it.
Vista Ultimate is running just fine and dandy on my laptop (Dell Inspiron 6400).

Dont ask.  (hehehehe)

It was sooooo nice of Dell to provide ALL the Vista drivers on their website too.
Made the transition that much easier.

Once your machine is up to it (hardware wise) and you can get all the drivers, Vista works like a charm.
It takes quite a bit of work to get it running the way you want it to though.
That 'User Account Control' is a real pain, so it gets turned off first.

Oh BOI........I just dug up in a guy's acer laptop there that is running vista and well MEGA SIGH   KICK STAB    STAB KICK...........I CANT TAKE IT ANY MORE..........BILL WHAT HAVE YOU DONE...NOOOOOOOOOOO..... :crybaby2: I want my XP sp2

Don't make it your main operating system....it can be used like in vivman's laptop there WITH ALL THE UPDATES which is a little hell to go through. Otherwise the user friendlyness for an EXTREME NOOB...it may be advised but that kinda think mite put Sax and frens out of a job...**thinks--NEVER there will always be a job for the SAX**

Connectivity wise....it ok...a lil lacking for US...but just good for someone who just wants to get online.

The evident stinkness of Mircosoft's security is extremely harsh........does this leave us to purchase only originals in the future? **shudders at the thought of ORIGINAL**

I 'acquired' on of those versions W1n posted about in post no. 222 of this thread. Thing works 'warm knife through butter' smooth. ~33% memory usage performing everyday tasks...browsing, office etc. No serial needed and updates available and installable. Just might make it my primary OS.

There's a new, ahem, 'exploit', along those same lines thats even easier to run than that one, and M$ can't do anything
about it, because legit serials are being used.  If said serials are blacklisted,  it would result in a LOT of brand-name PC
owners suddenly having a 'pirated' OS on their systems.

Score one more point for the haXX0rs.  :icon_salut:

Sorry Bill.  Now I dont have to buy it.   :happy0203:

Ok, what about if someone wants to use vista (ultimate edition) on their work force rig running the following specs:

athlon 64 4000+, 1GB DDR 400 RAM, Geforce 7300GT.

Must run Vista, latest version of office (btw, how easy is it for old files from 2003 to work with 2007?), Photoshop, flash, firewroks, dreamweaver etc etc.

How have you guys found it to work?

Yupz he's rite......the 2003 files work perfect on mine...office just uses its compatibility mode and that doesnt stop you from doing any sort of editing to the documents. So you're good to go Pablo. Just one thing given the fact that every system won't have office 2007, if you type a document in 2007 save it as a 97-2003 file (when saving change file type...bar under document title bar when saving). Im just saying cuz you did say it's for someone's work pc and all that so if they save the file as a 97-2003 type; its bound to work on any system they send it to or put it on with ease. Just incase, you never know.

However there are some things like tables and pie charts and so on that if you save it in compatibility mode, it won't show up in office 2003 so watchout for that. Its mainly the new color schemes and chart options including its 3D modeling

With 1gb ram, you'll find that Vista uses over half of that for ordinary running, i'm talking about IE andMessenger running. When you start talking about Photoshop (which worls flawlessly in Vista btw not too sure about the other apps), that's the rest of you memory gone right there. When you throw game into the mix now you can bet that machine's gonna start makng use of pages. I tried the 1gb/Vista thing already, it works, but to keep things smooth, youre gonna have to keep your opened proggies to a minimum.

What would you reccomend? Up the ram to 2gb instead of 1gb or just install XP and settle myself? Cuz I am going to have another machine with 2GB of RAM. This machine (1GB) will be strictly for work and maybe some mild gaming (some FPS, sims 2, AOE 3 etc)

If youre gonna have two machines...well honestly my personal choice will be to have one with XP and one with Vista. Let's be realistic, even though my experience on this machine has been superb thus far, there are bound to be some proggies that have some sort of incompatibility with it and you're gonna say...damn I wish i had an XP box to try this on. You see where i'm going with this right? Some may say...well use a virtual machine or something, which is a good alternative as well, but that's a choice I leave up to you. My lappy has 1gig as well 64bit but I won't go and throw Vista on that, not only because of the ram issue but because of how well everything works on XP. Theres no guess work about compatibility. Vista on the other hand is a trial and error sort of thing, something you'll wanna stay away from in your work environment. Sure, throw a next gig in it sometime in the future so that when Vista is ironed out, youre good to go.

I would say so, yes. Personally i'm very interested to see how my future 8800gts will fear on Vista. From what i've read, the performance difference between XP and Vista is just abound the same...not to mention dx10 support for those new dx10 titles. To ans ur question, yes I think its worth a try. If you're not satisfied, there's always xp to fall back on.

Well, thus far my experience with Vista on my gaming PC has been nightmarish to say the least, but I think the problems I've
been having are drive related.  Vista install is on-hold for now.

I'm having a problem though: I need to remove the Vista 'Windows' and 'Program Files' folders from a drive that I cannot format,
as it contains other 'pertinent' data.  However, I am getting an 'access denied' message and cannot seem to delete these folders.
XP seems to think the files in here are bonafide Windows files and not allowing me to delete the folders.  I tried booting into safe mode,
also I tried using the recovery console, but no dice.

I need some advice on how to completely delete those files without disturbing the other 'data' (hehehe) on the drive.
