A 24-year-old computer technician of Arima was yesterday fined $10,000 by an Arima magistrate after pleading guilty to unlawfully accessing and using someone else's Internet account. In default, he will serve 18 months in prison.Rajiv Mikhoo is the first person in Trinidad and Tobago to be convicted of an offence under the Computer Misuse Act 86 of 2000.
How exactly was he caught, because although I know better, TSTT used to claim that they didnt trace back calls coming in to them. They used to say it was against the law. But we won't say anything about old machines that just sit and printed out page after page after page of telephone numbers and usernames when you dialed up. If that's changed I'd like to know about it.
