Laser eye surgery, at home!
« on: May 12, 2006, 11:17:31 PM »
I really cant speak for the rest of the members on this forum, but I for one wont feel comfortable preforming laser eye surgery on my self...at home.

In 'step 3' that doesnt look very 'painless' with those whisps of smoke comming out.

lol

if you click how it works
it goes on to explain this process

then quotes" virtually painless" and adds a * next to virtually painless

lower down the page  it explains the * as, this statement has not been endorsed by the FDA lol lol lol

Sorry, but according to Snopes, it's as bogus as William Hung's career. (Click the sentence for a link)

Note the lack of contact information or ability to even order the product on the entire site.
Also, as Crixx said, such a device must be approved by the FDA, and it's clearly not.

But really, now. Why would laser eye surgery be available to just anybody?
Do you have any idea just how precise you have to be to do that?
Chances are, you'd screw up your eyes worse than they already are. Hoax or not, I'd take my chances with a professional than risk playing doctor and being blind for the rest of my life.

Hoax or not, professionally done or not, i eh want it!!. I rather wear glasses/contacts. Chances of screwing up your eyes with laser treatment are too great.

Yup, I wear glasses..... I'm not happy wearing glasses, but its alot better than having to sell a limb, or vital organ to do surgery which has supposedly a high chance of messing up.

I'd just save taht money to buy a PS3 :D lol.

Yea, and I'm sorry 6% is abit too much for me. Call me paranoid, but I'm quite fine with my disablities, the 'bad' side affects of wearing glasses are nothing compared to a botched surgery.

Unless you have some sort of severe degenerative eye disease, your argument doesnt stand. Many people have slight sight efects (me included) and i just need a light glasses. Even people with worse problems that are non degenerative can wear glasses or contacts for the rest of their lives.
