What do you do when AMD is thoroughly kicking ur @$$?

Why launch a new line of LOGOS of course... cause thats about all intel can do at the moment with the kick @$$ they're getting from the competiton. Have a look at said new logos:

   Intel does less than half the useful work be clock that AMD does ,    and consumes  twice the power and gives off double the heat in the process, their chips take up a larger surface area than any AMD ....
   Even worse Apple is moving its macs across to intel ,  if i were stephen jobs i'd go with a Cell instead... or an amd ...

Now I have to correct Trini and in some weird and twisted way defend intel... Trini First STEVE Jobs is going to use the Pentium M dual core otherwise known as Meron which for all intents and purposes is just as good as a A64 save and except 64-bit support and to be honest I am not sure whether it WON'T be by that time since that's not out til mid next year. Its been shown in benches that the Pentium M is comparable to the A64. Just look at a review of a Turion and Pentium M you'll see what I am talking about. Plus whatever optimizations and improvements they add but then. Note that the Pentium M also draws less power (marginally) but indeed does less than a Turion and a Turion draws less power than an A64. So get ur facts straight before you post these things. Steve Jobs knows what he's doing. I'd count on Meron being a very low power/low temp Dual core with 64-bit support and high memory and clock speeds.

Secondly the Intel chip actually takes up less space than an AMD chip always has and still does. Eg. Socket A Larger than Pentium 4, now Socket 939 still larger (marginally so) than a LGA-775. Intel's chips are and have been quite tiny to be honest and seeing as they WILL shrink to 65nm BEFORE AMD can... i'd bet on them STILL being smaller. So Trini once again we have to tell you to CALM yuhself and do ur homework before posting. At least on topics outside of de rum shop.

space around the socket for a huge hulking heatsink ofcourse makes up for that difference rather quickly athlon64's and pentium4's are about the same size, it's just not a reason to bother unless you're looking at mini-ITX, and them the only chip you shuld think of is pentium-m on an lv-673.
shrinking to 65 NM makes the CORE smaller, NOT the chip it's packaged on. You DONT want that to be smaller because you WANT the heat spreader to SPREAD heat period, and you want the cpu to fit in the same socket.

pentium-m is a great chip comparativly, but needs a boost in clock. They need to divert resources to it, and get merom out so we can have fun watching 2 companies move forward again.

Lastly, i dont buy a chip for gaming alone, and it's usually my card that's bottlenecking me in games. A bit more performance, a non-hack approach to dual core and virtualization tech would make them look most appealing again

from an overclocker's perspective, 65nm dual core pentium4's doesn't sound bad if the price is low, and they can be pushed. Sure you can oc AMD's stuff too - but you're likely to cap at or before 2.8 (fx-57 speeds). serious intel overclockers hit 4.2 to 4.5 (though the gain per clock sucks so a bigger boost is needed and hopefully 65nm would let them hit higher)

Likelihood of that is pretty high as most of these Media Center PCs are expected to be quiet...would be easier to keep a Pentium-M cool and quiet than a PrescHott

wow, it almost gave me goosebumps seeing wintry bask in intel glory while learning trini a thing or two.

And on the 7th day, intel created meron, and it was good.

I created a thread about the dothan and its potential now that its on a desktop board.

If you doubt the power of a dothan, go check that thread and please note the 1 gig oc achieved on stock cooling with just a slight increase of fsb.

AMD kicks intel's pentium 4 in games - true somewhat though it's easy to max a vidcard.

intel's pentium-m can keep up with AMD, and even surpass it clock for clock, BUT it's not clocked high enough, not priced low enough, and not quite a big hit on desktop boards - especially including enthusiast overclocking and SLI boards to truly give AMD a stiff competition.

My next pc MAY be an intel - IF they can get a merom more powerful than the pentium-m - it's looking good compared to the athlon x2, and with the resources intel has i wont be surprised to see a good reversal of power. We NEED it. We've been stuck at this level of power for far far too long.
