I will be going into the Police Service soon, and as far as i know, the training is extended, thus more things will be taught to us. What i want to know is what anyone thinks should be added to the training curicullum.

Lemme Break it down for u and other ppl who think it aint worth going into the police.....
1) Use them to gain work exp
2) Something good to add to my resume...
3) Send me to study even though tertiary might be free, but, non the less they will pay for it....
4) Added money to pension
5) Godd health plan and Credit union for saving money
6) I need some discipline...
7) They need ppl who are Technologically inclined, thus they are eager to send ppl to study especially if they can see returns... besides i could use the work exp in the Info tech field...

And there are so many other directions i can take when i am at that forked up road, so mant things i can branch off to, basically many options... and besides i am a man who want to sit down in office and become a pencil pusher, not me and dat kick-down-door-collect-shotgun-to-chest i wanna live!!!!!

YEah they do thing is they have alot of ppl outside of the service working for them, nowadays they looking to install systems to hold reacords and beef up and pork up the other departments. They showed something a coulpe months ago where they wanted to set up a W.A.N in Port of Spain, Ah mean dey really backward in these things as far as i know. Good thing is that they see the need as crime getting really out of hand. And another thing I like Trinidad toooooooooo bad even though i like other coutries alot too, but honestly in meh heart, ah want to see T and T get to a better world status, given the crude history we have here, and if making it secure will do some damage, well let dem criminal take dat in dey pweeefemmm!!!

You know the saying..."It's a dirty job, but somebody's gotta do it."
I have a friend in the Police Service, and I had the same concerns about his safety as well, but then I realised that it's the path of life that he's chosen, and I've definitely got to respect him for that. Especially since he's taking on one of the riskiest professions in the country, which says a lot.

Xenos, I wish you nothing but the best.
I don't know squat about the training, really, so I can't help you there.
I can, however, offer my support. Good luck, man.

What i want to know is what anyone thinks should be added to the training curicullum.
They need to find some way of weeding out the 'bad seeds' that are giving the Police Service and those who serve in it a bad reputation.  It seems as though there are many police officers who like to 'boss' around the general public for their own 'sick' pleasure with no real reason for doing so.  Unfortunately many ppl don't know of their rights.  So to answer your question, they (police trainees) should be trained to educate (the civillains they interact with) about the law, not just enforecement of it.

Allyuh wouldnt believe the things they have given me to get on this list of things to walk with for training. One of them is Knife and fork( good thing i could use them) Saucer and Teacup( yeah man Stick out the Pinky!! Well ah guess they really stepping up a notch on how they are training police officers, for a minute i thought i was going to finishing school. But all this is with good intentions, a hope to have a little bit more respectable ppl in the force. Apparently a superintendent was on the radio recently and he was saying that our batch would be one of guinea pigs.......yeah the gonna try some new stuff with us, oh well at least it is to help curb de crime!!

Yeah...de new training for the rookies is good.  But what about when you are posted?  The rookies pick up the 'bad' habbits of those around them.  If you don't also provide this new training for the existing officers then it's all for naught.  The 'old guard' don't want to be 'taught' by the 'noobs'!

COmputerman u have a very valid point there honestly i know that for a fact, if they are going to implement that to help them oldie moldies i dunno, that will be good for them, and is not like they will fire all dem and start fresh, then what 'll happen  to them when they unemployed.? Once again, only time will tell, but in my case, I dont want to get too comfortable with the basis of training, i looking to do further training so as to advance myself, and this is something in which they dont teach ppl often. However the initiative to take in Trainees with more than a minimum of 5 o' lvls, and take them ONLY is a good step, time to get some ppl with brains in the service.
