Well, i dunno what other ppl pay, but I pay about 600+ (no more than 700) a mth with gold package with dsl...that is if i keep the cell phone calls down...

I cant remember the exacts, but if you wanna know that badly, check tstt website.

EDIT, btw, I ment this for my WHOLE phone bill....

all the prices yuh have to add vat, so it is 340 puls vat so i does pay 397 a month with a 15% discount with the 3 year contract

Didn't those asswipes in at the regulatory commission block TSTT from going 512 because it would be "unfair competition"?

Anyway, it's $400(plus vat) for ADSL, if you take the 3 year contract it's $340.

Dread I jes get back from Grenada and they paying bout 400TT for 512kbps down and 256kbps up + their cell packages are like 15EC which is approx 35-40TT for unlimited internet on ur cell and reception is pretty good everywhere on the island.

See even Grenada roll out a better ting than us.

Digicel isn't competing in the internet market, Kaizen. And if they decided to, rest assured they will have the bandwidth to offer faster than 256. I guess they decided the other existing ISP's can't offer 512(yeah right) and decided to block the upgrade. Of course it can't last forever, but I dunno how long it'll take now. We were supposed to be on 512 about a month or two now already if I'm not mistaken.

I never downloaded a gig at one shot, but the math shouldn't be hard to work out - I'm pretty sure you'll be able to complete your gig worth of data overnight once going at full speed.

The 256k dsl will give you a 32k/s transfer rate. Browsing is very fast, downloading an average mp3 will take maybe 2-3 mins and a standard divx/xvid encoded anime episode will come through in 2 to 3 hours if you can sustain good speed throughout. Using p2p applications, don't expect to max out the transfer rate unless it's a popular mp3 on limewire.

Your right sideswipe tstt promised residential users 512 a month ago to be exact ...and i jus feel that i shall hook up the 256 its better than nothing ...but 4 gigs a day wouldve been nice ..

I haven't heard anything from Fiberline(cable) recently nah. We had a 256k line from them at my old workplace and it was real pressure. Always dying. Plus forget gaming - like GreenDot, Fiberline uses a satellite uplink for its backbone connection to the internet. Satellite equals high latency.

Got a lil lucky when I signed up for their service

TT$400 - 20% = TT$320 (SmartChoice Gold)

TT$320 - 15% = TT$272.00 (3yr agreement)

TT$272 + 15% VAT = TT$312.80

and that's just the DSL bill....
TT$250 is the phone bill once we don't call any cell phones... plus VAT is TT$287.50

TOTAL: TT$600.30

not too shabby, by TSTT standards at least....

I dunno if they still have it, but it's the 10th anniversary of Internet Services at TSTT and they were running a special for dialup users who upgrade to DSL...some nice savings...you might want to call and inquire.
