Sony Ericsson has announced today the P990, which is the first commercially available smartphone to contain Symbian OS version 9.1 and UIQ 3 software platform. Wi-Fi enabled, this UMTS smartphone will allow data communication between devices located in the same coverage area.
Other features of the Sony Ericsson P990 include a 262.000 color (240 x 320 pixel) display, touch screen, QWERTY keyboard, WLAN, Bluetooth, a 2 megapixel camera, video recording, media player, FM radion with RDS, 64 MB of memory and slot for up to 4 GB removable memory.
"The technical prowess of the P990 will be brought to full life by applications from the third party developer community," said Jan Wäreby, executive vice president. "Demand for applications on the P800, P900 and P910 has been very high. Our smartphones have been recognised as the most advanced and useful on the market."
The Sony Ericsson P990 will be available in first quarter of 2006. Price was not disclosed. Images available below:
