i couldnt give f*ck all. I getting all the consoles and done. Dreamcast failed because of poor marketing in both Japan and US. SEGA was trying to do too much at one time and never spent the time focusing on their target niche.

Whoa @ that video clip.

Truly an eye opener.

Now I have much more respect for the controller.

Still can't see myself playing Tekken 6 or Soul Calibur 4 on it but hopefully there will be joystick/gamepad options available for the more traditional type of games.

For those of you big on "innovative gameplay", I don't think you can ask for much more than this.

An awesome tool that truly shakes up the status quo. Developers can go crazy with this thing!

Nice link Shiv!

y ppl talking about tekken and halo an all this on a NIntendo? I dont think that system getting any of dem games soon. To be honest i feel its for the Nintendo exclusives. and, just like the DS, everyone gonna jump on when they see how successful they can make something inovative

Well, games like Halo and Tekken are the measuring stick if you havent realised. In order for most games of said catagory, they have to be compared to that one game.

And yea, they said that how there are plans for a docking bay for the controler for different games, or if you just don't want to look like a fool when playing it.

rofl @ look like a fool.

yeah Shiv, those are industry benchmark games.

Expect every FPS released on any console to be looked at as a potential "Halo Killer".

Or are you suggesting that their won't be any FPS nor Fighting games on the Revolution?

I hope not! That sounds reminiscent of the N64. Very very few fighting games were on that platform. Mace being one of the very few.

As far as innovation goes, this is gonna be great.

It's not the first time, no doubt, that we have seen Nintendo do strange things like this.

Remember the light gun? Unfortunately, aside from the killer app DuckHunt, not many great games took advantage of it. Not many console platforms saw success with it either. Name 5 xbox / Ps2 light gun games off the top of your head?

More recently, the GameCube bongo bongo. Saw those up in England. Little drums to use with the cube for some DonkeyKong music game. Looked like a blast for kids. Again, not picked up by any other platform to my knowledge.

Hopefully, the Revolution's attempts will get a warmer welcome across the industry.

Judging from the video, the potential is just plain incredible!

Of course there is going to be fighting on the REV, Smash anyone? And this rounds its online! And well, I really and truly expect this kind of responses from people, its in human nature to not like something different (we have many examples, but I'll just point at rasism as one).

If anything, just think about it this way, Nintendo finally realised that they can't compete with Sony on the technological level, and can't compete with MS on the "pop culture" level, so they are just going down a different road. And they certainly arn't gonna become another dreamcast.

All I have to say is: Just wait and see :D

Yuh know I now realize something... the remote is IR....  thats no good... anyone who's seen IR wireless mouse etc knows those things SUCK. RF would have been a much better way to go imho... cause whats my scenario when I moving meh hands all over the place or say just by a slim chance playing a DDR game of some sort and using the remote..(although I guess there would be some other peripheral for this) I am using a extreme case just to highlight that what go happen when the IR signal not getting back to the receiver? or a man pass in front meh or on bad mind stand in front of meh while I play a street fighter... at least with a RF I go still have signal and in the least I go pause.

Yeah that's right nintendo could do whatever they feel like. All yuhmen like wesleigh and peoples doubting nintendo. You'll don't have to buy it. Like you'll could even try to make it so don't make stupid comments or just keep it to yourself, suppose you made this control and somebody else said what you said what would you say?

Anywayz i don't believe the wavebird was IR because i have two and when people stand in frnt of the transmitter it still works fine. But if you have two controls on the same frequency it goes haywire.

I not gonna argue being able to make a controller despite my work with IR remotes, sensors, microcontrollers, etc before.. anyways, I said it is IR cause looking at the pic there is a nice dark plastic strip at the top of the remote in front of the B button on the underside... if its not then better yet. Maybe its a sensor for determining light intensity WHO KNOWS, I not knocking the controller, I knocking the possible use of IR. PLUS IR IS CHEAPER hence why they might use it. Before u voice you opinion on other ppls opinion READ IT PROPERLY or as you put it, keep it to yourself. Also tell me what happens why ur facing the opposite direction with your IR remotes, just outta curiosity. I can tell you what would happen with an RF controller, it'd still work.

If anything, just think about it this way, Nintendo finally realised that they can't compete with Sony on the technological level,

spoken like a true noob.

Proto, look back at sony vs nintendo in the console market.

When his sony every released a piece of hardware that was greater than nintendos???

NEVER
64 v ps1. 64 was a greater piece of hardware.
cube vs ps2, once again the cube is a greater piece of hardware.
ds vs psp. Hey look at that, ds a better piece of hardware AGAIN.

Lol, granted that sony as a hole is an undeniable technological powerhouse.
IN the gaming world, they really not surpassing nintendo.
And microsoft just have money to fling at their hardware,so they takin the loss on their hardware to hopefully stamp out all competition in the future.

As for the ir.

I was watching the video, and while impressed with the inovation( i loved the idea of flikkin de control up to make mario jump ^_^ lol). I spotted the receiver for the remote and the front panel on the remote that would suggest ir...

and iam telling my self, no way they gonna expect ir to work well with the kinda movement they expect from people while using the control....

But as we know.... there is no need for that receiver and front panel on a rf system sooo... ir it would seem...

UNLESSSS. NINTENDO BEING THE BOSSES THEY ARE, ARE USING SOMETHING OTHER THAN IR THAT WE DONT KNOW BOUT!!

maybe something they inventerated!!!

See even crixx agrees it 'looks' that way *w1ntry ponders the implications of crixx having an argument similar*..... *sees end of world* yeah so... it appears to be IR but I just had a thought... what about if its IR but for interactive games with something similar to DUCK HUNT??? like say all those games that used those guns in arcades like house of the dead? possible no? and it could be used for other peripherals like its the DVD remote. (I like the duck hunt idea as its retro and seeing as they only have an A and B button like days of old). Maybe it has more functionality and can control ur vcr, xbox, ps2 and IR device like a universal remote (still like the duck hunt idea more) and hey maybe like masterchief was telling me its somethign for positional sensing? maybe it has RF built in and uses the IR to determine position in 3D space or something. These are just ideas...

i have a very good feelin yuh wrong about the IR. for certain. Watching a dark strip now making me believe you even less. I thought you had a statement with the controler specs.

but shiv

is not just the strip on the control that is worrying. its the presence of the RECEIVER that is disturbing.

I like that idead of positional sensing in 3d space.

Guess it would be easier to triangulate with ir than with rf.
And with the addition of the geo sensor in the controls, that makes for alot of posibilities

ROGUE SQUADRON WILL ROXOR ON THIS!!!

Well I dunno about you all...

But it's clear that Nintendo has been looking to provide hardware that can innovate, and maybe they have hit the mark or not, but it still alll boils down to one thing:

How will the 3rd party developers make use of this new piece of hardware?

That's where all our questions will really be answered...

But with that said, I think that this is the signal flare that Nintendo is launching, indicating that they not gonna go the same route of PS3/XBOX360, but they going to just forge new paths, and that is usually Nintendo's way...

I wanna see how this truly operates for FPS games, then this could be THE FPS console :).
Nagamete iru dake ja, itsumademo te ni dekinai...nagamete iru dake ja, kimi no mono ni wa naranai...

ssssssSSSSSSS...That's a nice everything you got there....SSSSSSS.

my honest opinion on the revolution controller is, it'll cause the fall of nintendo, i know it mighten seem too complicated to some of us, but what about the casual gamer, way too much shit going on with this new controller, it will cause ppl to back away.nintendo also need a few more mature oriented games. when u got game directors and devopers putting down your console, you know your doing something wrong
