1 question. U put this in PC Gaming so are we to assume that u want a gaming CPU? or is this just an overall perspective of which we think is better? gaming would prolly favour the A64 3800+ whilst overall tha tX2 3800+ might be the better bet. Or one could say in the not too distant future the X2 3800+ will be better for GAMING as games will take more advantage of multicore processors....

You won't notice a difference between either processor for gaming unless your getting a 7800gtx with it :p , the settings you'd play on anyway are bottlenecked by graphics card ( anti aliasing , high res etc.) , for any type of general use the X2 will be better .. i'd say X2 .

On the contrary trini, the CPU is the bottleneck lately as its shown that as u increase the CPU power eg, ocing the gaming performance increases linearly. At least thats what I read in a particular review. So more CPU power with cards like the 7800GTX do help.

I concur...the dual-core X2 3800+ is roughly equivalent to a single-core 3200+ when it comes to games, or at least that's what the majority of benchmarks around the web have shown...

My advice, if you're heavy on the gaming, stick with a single-core solution for now. Until developers can harness the power of a dual-core setup, single-core CPU's will continue to take the top spots for gaming.

DUDE GO DUAL CORE! when last i read i think graphics cards are aiming for that in the next few months and not the buss yuh pocket type of graphics cards . so if its for gaming, go DUAL CORE X2
