Hey all, well I recently had an upgrade of sorts... 9800Pro - X800XT AIW and SB Audigy - SB AUdigy 2 ZS Plat. All is well more or less (watching, tv, movies, dvds) except that any driver above catalyst 5.6 seems to crash with games. Thats to say the first driver that came with the video card wasn't working properly the games would crash the computer (i'll elaborate a lil just now). I have used Catalyst 5.6 or 5.4 (can't rem exactly) and games ran fine. However using anythign else when playing games like Q3 or anything built on the Q3 engine, UT2004. After about 10-20 mins of play the computer screen would go blank the speakers would output an annoying scratching noise and that would be it, HARD restart immc. Now I still have a few things to try as in removing the sound card in case its a conflict and of course putting back the 5.6 drivers. Right now I have 5.8 running and I did uninstall (not physically mind u) the sound card and disabled it. That did not work. As I recall on the cat 5.6 I ran HL2 for well over 2 hrs with no problems whatsoever. I haven't tried it with 5.8 though if/when I do I will report how that goes. If anyone has run into a similar problem hit meh a bligh. If yuh figure u know what causing this hit meh a bligh. I think its a conflict with meh sound card and download updated drivers for it, however the idea of taking out meh new sound card is ludicrous to me... so if pplz have an alternative lemme know.
