lol

exar boy, like you did not watch the tournament hierarchy good enough!

There was a preliminary round. Round Robin style. Everyone played everyone in their group. Equal opportunity beatings. This determined the seeding for the final 8.

Group A:
******
Rio 15
Clifford 10
[X]-DrlRage 9
[X]-Baego 6
Yvan 4
[X]-Guilt 1

Group B:
******
[X]-BryanMaster 16
Circuit 13
Collin 13
Chaotic 10
[X]-LordJin 9
RagDac 2
Marcus 1

I finished 4th in Group A and hence had to play BryanMaster who finished 1st in Group B

This is a tournament style that ensures the best players do not eliminate each other early in the event.

players can change chars every games

US saves not compatible with eur games, but we will try get trinidad a EUR save before the tournament (it's not erase the us save)

we said stage is set as random in the tournament Rulez, but when "noobish" player will play, maybe they will not respect this, but the referer will say it before the player choose their chars.

Actually man, there's nothing like double elimination to ensure that the best players reach the finals.

I'm not trying to rock the boat or anything, but that's how they do it in the big tournaments. Evo will most certainly be double elim.
The one surety of double elim is that the 1st and 2nd best players on the day will face each other. No chance of 2nd best getting smoked early due to luck of the draw.

Just a thought for future events.

lol, well the really big tournaments like the "electronic sports worldcup" use round robin into elimination format.

can't go wrong by following those guys.

that way you get to play a lot more games against a lot more opponents, providing the perfect basis for seeding.

Makes for great data on the players and not to mention, it ensures you get the two best in the finals / semi finals!

check it out sometime.

Evo uses round robin into double elimination.

btw Evo concluded sunday night/monday morning, there were so many pools for round robin they had to reduce t5 games from 3/5 to 2/3 rounds because of time which kinda pissed some ppl off. A lot of upsets too..wong for example came fourth in mvc2 ending his 4 year streak of titles, ironically the title went back to the person he originally beat many years ago to start his streak. He did however get 2nd in 3s which saw 6 japanese players in the top 8. CROW won tekken I believe.

thanks RB!

Yeah, that's the only down side to it. The number of games.

Round Robin really is the best way to determine the good players from the lot, but damn, it is exhaustive. Even with small groups.

Luckily, Tekken isn't exactly a 90 minutes game like football.

We can get away with some round robin action easily enough given the 90 second round limit. Especially with a few extra consoles and TVs thrown into the mix. That really cuts down the overall time of the event.

It also helps when you have UltraUber players like [X]-BryanMaster bulldozing their way through to the finals. Brisk brisk games iwmc.

Yeah but you still didn't say if shoulder buttons (L1_2 R1_2) could be set as 2 button commands. This would be crucial in my training.

Chaotic rio sorry I couldn't make it, when I see alll that rain sunday boy I went an sleep yess :p. Tommorow we go do it if anything, when we organizing we visa buisness. Bless.

rofl @ gigpe shots.

well it is a bit late now to arrange.

Our tickets were booked 2 weeks ago. BWIA leg of the trip with BWIA direct and the LIAT leg of the trip with Lazarri and Sampson Travel Agency.

To get a booking now at this moment would be very difficult but it never hurts to try.

BWIA doesn't fly to guadeloupe so you need to talk to LIAT for a connection.

The trip is costing us around $16,000 for the four.

So budget about $3000-4000.00 to get there.

Pretty expensive for a Caribbean destination. French caribbean is a bit different. Were it an English Speaking BWIA destination, it would have been a good chunk cheaper.

Some of the stuff we needed.

French Visa
Insurance
Bank Statement
Job Letter
Letter of Accomodation in Guadeloupe

The funny thing is that you must present the tickets before you get your visa. Back to front. Weird since tickets are non refundable, so if you get blank by the embassy, money down the drain iymc.

Also, embassy appointments are tough. Ours was booked two weeks ago and we got a 17th August date. That was the day before the trip.

No today for tomorrow business.

That's about as much info as I can recall off the top of my head. Niji and Trinity did most of the arrangements so if you need more particulars, I can ask 'em for you.
