anyone here have an ATI card?

 Anyone here have an ATI card?  A modern one eg. 9700 , 9800 , X800 etc.  , are there any serious bugs with the drivers ?  i plan on getting an x700 256mb and want to know how much trouble it may give .

Even if ppl have ATI cards (esp the last gen. 9700, 9800, etc) that would not be a good indication of the X700 card. I have a 9800Pro and its mostly error free. ATI makes good cards even though their drivers are a lil large they work for the most part.

What drivers do you have installed? Be sure you have the latest (5.6) installed.

 the X700 and 9800 pro are quite similar in architecture and performance ,

The X700 is also a process shrink, we know there are inherent problems associated with such things.

they worked fine no problems at allmanbut if you have the patience  wait for the R500

drivers on both are more similar now than ever -  ATI got way better - they used to have a page (pre-radeon) with what games gave bugs, and the bug descriptions. As of now, they're fine for directx, not quite suckage in opengl, but poor, and suck like hoover in linux.

If you're looking at visual quality, the gap was bridged in the 6800/x800 tussle. The 7800 however looks REEALLY nice with hdr softshadows and transparency AA.

I keep hearing that the 7800gtx has raised the bar in AA quality and now matches/surpasses the ATI offering.

Good to know that ATI isn't wshb in the driver department anymore.

I can testify as well. Had my main gaming rig run on ATI for a while without complaint. (Sleeping with the enemy immc)

Back on Nvidia now though. 6600GT imc.
