Socket A officially died

  AMD is shipping the last of socket A cpus... so  soon motherboard manufacturers will stop making socket A boards and 754 will replace it as the low end socket .

Yup dem 939 is real beasties, I can say so with confidence. Adds a good 3K to my 3DMark2001SE score (not even overclocked, keeping in mind meh AXP ran @ 2.3GHz and meh 3500+ @ 2.2GHz). But that aside Socket A has and is STILL serving me well. I don't have a 754 per say but I prolly never will. AMD all the way SPLOI! RIP socket A.

the attraction with 754 is price.

A good Nforce3 754 board can be had for US$58.00 and a 754 Sempron 3000+ for US$90.00

That is a pretty mean combination for a lot of power.

Add 10 US more and you're into the PCI Express game with Nforce 4.
