G70 aka Geforce 7800GTX has arrived
« on: June 16, 2005, 02:59:21 PM »
The chip is made using a 110 nanometre process and will have 302 million transistors, making it the biggest chip ever built for graphics use. It will be clocked at 430MHz and will use 1200MHz memory with a 256 bit GDRR3 interface.

It will have eight vertex shader units and will be able to process 24 pixels per clock. Nvidia claims that it has 24 pipelines. Some senior editors are referring to this chip as NV47, since its pretty much what was expected of that design which was 'cancelled'. Its basically a NV40 with more pipes and shaders.

The peak fill rate of the card is 6.88 Billion/second (16 ROPs at 430 MHz). Bilinear-filtered texel fill rate is 10.32 billion/second when all 24 pipelines work at the full 430MHz. The peak power consumption of the chip is 100 to 110W, and it is of course SLI ready. So far the benches suggest that it scores around 7700+ in 3Dmark2005 and over 12000 in SLI.

Oh and I almost forgot, the card and the new mascott (known as Luna) are shown below:

only 7700 ? X850s clocked at 800mhz break 7000 as it is  , so  do 6800s in SLI, i'm dissapointed , especially for the price  its supposed to go for , 600-700 US , you could get 2 X800XL s and a crossfire mobo to beat it .

Core 2 duo E6600
Asus mobo
Radeon HD 4770
2 gigs DDR2 667 + 2 gigs DDR 800 OCZ

Hoss alyuh doh jump the gun just yet the word is ther are a couple of "well known special strings" that make the 7800GTX behave like it on steroids jed ( NVIDIA_G70.DEV_0091.1 and nv4_disp.inf)...... Plus there is a new nVidia driver "allowing the 7800gtx vid card to exceed 8500 3Dmark05 for a single card PCI-E".... The new drivers' name and size 77.62/ 30MB but not yet available to the public tho

I don't know if nVidia up to their old tricks again (cuz we all know their rep)..., but that's the scoop (nVidia propaganda towers iwmc)

They're gonna hit the world in about 5 days... All of nVidia launch partners (eg. overclockersUK) will have the cards for purchase on the same day they're to be revield (6am on that morning).... but I think after those are sold out there may be a couple of weeks lapase before they back on the online shelves... We'll just have to wait nd see
