Nintendogs
« on: June 11, 2005, 02:19:39 PM »
Ever heard the mantra "Software sells hardware", well gamers who were predicting the death of the Big N in the console market (and some of whom commited the ultimate blasphemy in actually considering  a handheld collaspe)may have to rethink. The technically and visually inferior DS has been outselling the PSP, in fact it recently outsold the PSP and PS2 combined in Japan. Why?  One word, Nintendogs.

The revo may do a number on us all if the BigN can come up with an original Killer App. History shows that they are the  masters of the original killer app

I have heard so much of this "Nintendogs"

would our people go for it?

it is a next-generation, WiFi-enabled tamagotchi that appeals to the Japane Teeny Bopper crowd.

Sounds kinda girly. A Sims competitor. I mean that as a compliment, since any gamer worth his salt knows that Sims took most other titles to the cleaners when it came down to sales.

Nintendo playing their cards right.

Balls in my opinion really. i know it will have its own cult following but balls never the less. i really hate what nintendo is doing. its trying to force innovation than nurture it.

I am guessing you have "outgrown" nintendo.

Nothing wrong with that. Some of will remain kids at heart and appreciate it's appeal. Be mindful of the target audience. (Mario, Donkey Kong, Zelda)

Be grateful when they throw us a mature bone every now and again (resident evil, 007)

Believe me when I say, having my kid play the best PS2 games is a nightmare that I face everyday.

Having him play the best nintendo gamecube games is a joy.

give jack his jacket. The more I think about it, the more I hope they don't bow down to market pressure and try to go after ms/sony's gamespace.

nah i havent outgrown them. i just think they try too hard when they dont really have to. they make great games and should allow their third party friends to do the same.

Well with the state of the market, they may not have much of a choice.

The demand for third party support comin out of Sony and MS must be incredible. Paper deals flying left right and center.

I don't envy Nintendo trying to out trump those heavy weights for Third Party Support.

It may be better (read easier) for 'em to try and stick with the niche market that they completely and utterly pwn.

The old addage "If you do one thing, DO IT WELL" applies. lol

Plus they are still the best designers of the so called "kidde" games imo, and now they have targeted the HUGE female market. Have you looked at the Japanese ads for Nintendogs? they are targeting not merely tween girls they are going for the 18 - 35 female non traditional gamer market with this game. That is a very smart move by the Big N. If they can add the non traditional  market to the kiddie market and grab a large slice of the female  gamer market their market share will rise considerably.

you touch on a nice topic there though.

Gamers using tech toys and such to get chicks.

I wanna start a whole new thread to deal with that one.

I've seen some work their magic *cough* madcat *cough*

impressive, most impressive.

as for pullling chicks, hell yeah the tech toys do!
LEt's see my ipod and DS does half the talking for me.

Thnk about it now we fellas can interact with girls in more ways . This nintenods game is just what us DS fans have been waiting for. This game will definitely put DS back on level competition in the US with PSP. Something i have been waiting for since day 1 of PSP American domination.

Actually to be honest the PSP doh come close in competition as far as gaming is concerned to the DS. The PSP wins in abilities such as multimedia hands down though, and yeah the system looks SWEEEEET with a NICE screen. But i eh see one damn game on the PSP worth getting yet, unless you is a man who travels allot and have time to play PS2 ports.

All the DS games are original games. However the 3rd party companies have to yet to get a good stylus game going. As for Nintendo 1st party games, well hell the list goes on, plus men still very much enjoying Minish Cap and Mario Super Saga and such.

First part of yuh post. Nintendo games look like they made for kids, trust me, pick up warioware or Yoshi Touch and GO and you go get so addicted AND look like an @ss playing it at the same time...and its FUN

Second part. Yeah they do, but they wear a ton of makeup especially Tina and Diane. Diane look HAAAAAWWWWWWWTTTTTTTT though. Morgan, dread that girl HOTTER in person, i sh!t you not.

You know what would really pull in the adult male demographic? a serious RTS, we all know  what I am talking about, a DS version of Warcraft. The DS is technically able to pull it off, there already is a good RTS on the DS but just think what a kick a$$ version of warcraft would do for the DS worldwide not just Japan. Say what you want you have to admit that the design of the DS puts the system way ahead of the PSP in terms on serious handheld specific games. I am not talking mindless  console ports, I am talking about original games made specifically for a handheld, or a version of a known franchise designed specifically for a handheld. imagine if at E3 nintendo had announced the following, Warcraft DS, with full online play . Unreal DS with 8 player wireless deathmatch and co-operative mode, Nintendogs, and (my feeble dream) Adecent handheld fully 3D tomb Raider ( and I dont mean anything like the Ngage abomination)

The DS ic capable of pulling off excellent renditions of those games I for one hope that nintendogs is the start of things to come

finally some supporters of the DS i thought for the last few months that i was alone. I got my DS from the first day it was out in fact bthe very morning it came out, everybody said what a waste of money, why didnt u wait to buy a PSP.

Well the DS really kicks @$$ AND WITH A FEW MORE PROMISING GAMES SUCH AS NINTENDOGS the DS will be totally in control of the market.

Nintendogs is making nintendo big bucks, in fact its the cause of almost half of all DS sales in japan , with 43% of those who buy a ds bieng female  , and buying it for  Nintendogs  . Nintendo is playing its cards right , knowing its market and making a new one among an older age group , women / funny men  .
Nintendo is also doing lots of adault ish games eg. Splinter cell Chaos theory  ,  and a more mature Zelda ,  it seems to be set to take back the market that it lost through years of kiddie games .

yeah thats right TrinithereturnofGamez nintendo are playing their cards right. Nintendo has always in the last few years been the dark horse but they shall rise sometime in the near future if they continue games such as nintendogs, legend of zelda twilight princess etc.
