they really went all out with attention to detail in San Andreas.

mudders at that benchmark

those FX cards get a good beating.

but that is a very demanding benchmark, FarCry with 4AF.

It is safe to say, no one buyin an FX 5200 or 5500 gonna be runnin FarCry with 4x AF

Stick with something lil closer to home, like 3dmark 2001.

7000 aint' great, but it is much more respectable than 4500

Remember the TI 4200 and Geforce 3 are high end parts and COST MORE than a FX 5200 of FX 5500. Considerably more.

Bottomline is dollars and sense.

If a man have $1200+ to spend, then he in business.

Scrapin up a $495 budget, he ain't got much choice beyond the low end FX series.

my experience with overclocking the FX is that it doesn't do much.. Halo still lags @640x480 and wolfenstein at 1024x768 . and within a half hour of gaming , it starts to overheat and lock up, with just a 20-30mhz increase , though it was a passsivly cooled fx .
True @ man scrunting with 500tt could only afford an FX.. but there are alternatives , the 9000 and 9100 cards go for around the same price and lay down 7000-8000 3dmark 2001easy , and you can get 9600se and 9550 Radeon cards for a little more , which can reach 10 000 or more , and have DX9 shading features that the FX is too weak to use .

San Andreas is a serious improvement over the previous GTA's...you got stats to take care of now...not quite like the sims where it's the focal point of the game...but imagine you hadda go to the gym to cut down on your Fat and increase Muscle and Stamina...and that you hadda eat to keep up your energy...and depending on what you eat, you increase the Fat etc...madness! Fortunately it's not an intrusive feature....so for example, you don't gotta eat every day...

The most hilarious things I've come across so far...the arcade/video mini-games! There is one in your "house" much like Gradius of the Atari days! And there's arcade boxes at the local club and bar...they really went all out on this game oui. Hell, when you go to the club, there's even a Dance Dance Revolution-like mini-game that you can get into on the dance floor...hilarious!

Reminds me of Ultima, where you could have done everything, including bake bread and pick pumpkins. lol

I'm a glutton for detail, sounds like San Andreas has it in spades.

Yes well as you increase in your muscle stat ... your body does get bigger in the game ...... and when yuh reach full muscle yuh does really look like a real big getto man. as well as the BMX the more yuh ride yuh could go and learn trix.

I have this game...and it sick...this game has almost everyting in it....imagine you could have a girlfriend in this game and u have to mentain a reltionship like "The Sims" not only with your girl friend but your gangmembers.All the characters (Officer "ten penny" and "Ryder who always high, and wanna sprang something"my favourites) voice overs are spot on and very jokie!.the radio stations are cool with real rap music from deathrow...not to mention the ironic comercials...enough said jus go get the game..u wouldnt be disappointed.

there are bridges which are blocked to keep you from leaving the area til the story reaches there and when you try to swim across you instantly get 4 stars and have the police and swat all over you!!i kno this from experience!!i have been looking for a way to get a cross to the airport for awhile now

so far no luck.i have to get a real fast bike or sumthing.

i love it when you shoot the gas tank and the car blows in one shot!!!

There's a singleplayer component, but the game really shines in its multiplayer.
