Just thinkin about the new RTS's out there strategy games im drooling after the excellent act of war , what else could we ask for Empire Earth 2? yes! it was even better and now with the makers of X COM ufo defense back out with Laser Squad nemsis what else are we lookin to for this year there are so much RTS games coming out i recommend Stronghold 2 and empire earth 2 ! gr8 games what are your opinions on rts games

Stronghold 2 sucks in a way that I never thought possible...what a disgrace...I'm ashamed to say that I've played it...

Star Wars Empire at War looks to be a serious RTS to pay attention to...and of course there's Age of Empires III as well later this year.

Yea, I have empire earth 2, its really cool, but yet still moves away from the "tradational" rts, cause it incorporates the whole tetority thing as a major factor in the game.

I HAVE TO GET THAT STAR WARS GAME!!....like HAVE to get it!!!

But from the pics, I dunno of my pc would be able to run that, and right now, all my funds going towards an hd tv (1080p res) and of course the ps3

, so no upgrading of pcs anytime soon....

hmm i didnt play stronghold 2 much just recommendin it on pcgamers taughts of it empire earth 2 is da shizit for now THAT STAR WARS GAME LOOKIN SUPA FREAKIN SWEEET!!! THOUGH

I haven't heard much about Armies of Exigo.

That was a recent RTS to hit the scene.

Star Wars: Force Commander....sorry to say, it was utter crap

It was made at that time when 3D games were the new big thing and nobody had the ill conceived free moving camera under control yet...needless to say, the camera really spoiled things for that game...I had high expectations...but alas...they bombed. However, Empire at War has a much better foundation and finer pedigree in that it's being created by Petroglyph, a game studio that's mostly comprised of ex-Westwood Studios guys...the creators of the likes of Dune and Command & Conquer...and for all intents and purposes, the previews from around the web have been very encouraging.

Only really nice thing about that game was the graphics...kinda fell short in the other departments by today's standards...maybe if it were released like 4 years ago it would have been a hit...

Saw a review for empire earth 2 in pc gamer, so i'm looking forward to that. recently i've tried warhammer 40000 dawn of war, and battle for middle earth. I didn't have much hope for the later (the "game sucks compared to the movie" theory is rarely wrong...) but i was pretty impressed with it. Single player wise at least. Seems like games dependant on a hero (like wc3) become easily unbalanced though. especially BFME.

I've played so many multiplayer games of it that I've lost count.

DoW is the pwnage , if the single player wasn't so short.......
armies of exigo had an okay story and amazing graphics .... but the gameplay was ripped directly from blizzard games, one race bieng CLONES of the night elvees, one bieng zergish and one bieng just like the orcs/humans , they were identical down to the tech trees and art design, trees for the elves , insect looking things and bases covered with slime for the zerg clones etc...
there are tons of good / niche strategy games out there , i played one based on the Fallout series once , was quite good and in depth , anyone ever tried Silent storm ? .

Yea, the DoW....well...playing that, I really couldnt help but remeber Warcraft....

But, since i now start, i have no choice to play single player. Its pretty cool, story line is typical...but cool nonthe less...

the ones I am waiting on are

Age of Empires 3
Star Wars: Empire at War
Rise of Nations: Rise of Legends
Civilization 4 (turn based)

Ones I am playing now are
Rise of Nations
Civilization 3 (turn based)
