The lengend continues
« on: July 20, 2005, 08:55:07 AM »
UR friendly yellow and round neighbourhood ghost eater is continuing his 20+ year rampage of the gaming industy. I am talking about none other than Pac man. He's gonna be back in a large way on the mobile and handheld systems quite soon. Here is the article:
Quote
Pac Man is back

Attack of the ghosties. Did he ever really leave?

By Aaron McKenna: Wednesday 20 July 2005, 10:52
TWENTY FIVE years later and they’re still successfully milking the Pac Man franchise.

Publishers ZOO Digital is releasing not one but two Pac Man games for the Game Boy Advance on the 12th of August. Pac Man World 2, here and Pac Man Pinball, here join the ten million other licensed spawnings of the game you probably wasted some money on in an arcade sometime in the last two decades.

The series has seen iterations on most, if not all, consoles and handhelds released over the years and that doesn’t look set to change in the future. The Man has changed somewhat from his simple 2D maze origins and Pac Man World 2 looks more like a side-scrolling Mario game than 1980’s Pac Man, with Pinball sharing similar cartoon style.

Of course why not milk the cow says us? For one Pac Man has been an icon for over 25 years now. That means that people who played Pac Man as kids now have children of their own who could all use with a bit of mindless fun. Plus they have save-games now which means that Pac Man is now officially the most violence free game in the industry, though we’re still waiting for Hillary’s crack team of smut detectors to disengage themselves from Rockstar to see if there’s any hidden Pac Sex going on.

Between handhelds, PDA’s, consoles and even mobile phones - though the screens are a tad small on most - the market for Pac Man is now larger than ever and if you happen to attend the University of New York you can even play the game by running around Manhattan with a VR suit on.

Viva la Pac Man!

Final fantasy for the cell phone is the PERFECT idea.....  FFIII / FF6 jap was THE best rpg i'v played on the console  , the gameplay was innovative ,the story was original , the characters had depth and it was LONG ....  Most cell phone will have no trouble with the 2d graphics , and the game itself will only be like 5 megs .
Cell phones need more RPG's ... tons of 2d rpgs for SNes and genesis will work fine in java , and most people in this generation either haven't played them or will love playing them again  , Secret of mana 1-3 , Final fantasy , Chrono cross , tales of phantasia just to name a few.... Instead of wasting time making crappy games just re make great ones !
