i have a kinect. Now trying to understand the thing. Voice commands were successful.

I would like to try out online gaming. I was able to sign up with XBOX live today. my gamer tag is Thr33MCHANG. Would be cool if someone could add me. Waiting on TTPOST to deliver my Halo titles. Will update when they arrive. Can FROZA be played online? not seeing it but it's only been 4 days and well I have to keep up the appearance that I bought the XBOX for them...HAHAHA yeah right!

Welcome Thr33MCHANG.

Yes Forza CAN be played online but remember that you need a Gold XBOX Live account to do that.

OK, so my little review of Kinect for Xbox 360.

1. Uber Cool that there is no need for a controller to play the games for Kinect (YOU are the controller is really and truly a fact)
2. The voice command feature is a little difficult at first, depending on your background noise levels, you may have to raise your voice a bit in order for it to respond, but when you do, its flawless.
3. Launch titles like Kinect Adventures, Kinect Sports and Dance Central are SUPER fun and puts Nintendo Wii to shame on the fun factor considering that there is no Wiimote strapped to your hand to prevent it from breaking your TV...Its AMAZING how accurate it is in detecting your movements, not only arms and hands, we talking legs, hips, head, EVERYTHING!! WOW!
4. My Wife is playing Xbox 360!!! - Good heavens this is a first and I must say, I have to BUY another 360 for my wife now, otherwise I risk losing gaming time :( not because she wants me to spend more time with her, BUT because she is spending time on the Xbox :S. She is having a blast with Dance Central and Wii Sports so much, I am scared that my Black Ops time will be cut short :(
5. Plenty of space is the only drawback I can see, make sure you have at least 6' of space between you and the sensor, as its better and more ideal to have as much space as possible when playing with the Kinect.
6. Facial Recognition - still have to figure this one out, but again you need to have space to configure the facial ID

I would recommend that EVERYONE who does not have an XBox 360, go get one! and for those who do, go get a Kinect!!! :) Back to gaming....

Nice mini review. I know the misses will have a whale of a time with the Dance Central.

I won't mind her hoggin the 360, at least thats better than her hoggin' the PC with Zuma and bejeweled. lol

We had some serious fun with the Wii and the balance board over the Christmas season. Is kinect superior to the WiiFit in your opinion?

Well depends where your location is. If you live in the north, I will suggest Gamez Plus @ Movietown and ShelTech Electronics on Frederich St. P-o-S.

Good Mini review Redlum. Will definitely get a kinect bundle but only when i move into my new home (where there's more space). Will also need to get a lot of chocolates If I'm to pry my wife off the 360. "sigh".

lol @ kinect to play WoW

nice find but that sort of technology has been around for years.

See here: http://download.cnet.com/Physicam-Camtroller/3000-18541_4-10519779.html

and here

http://www.extendedreality.com/webcam_games_info.html

Check the write up

Quote
Use Physicam technology to control many other games using a Web cam instead of a keyboard. You set motion sensors on the Web cam capture screen, then decide what keyboard keys those sensors push. The result is the ability to play many games (including online flash and shock games) using physical motion in front of your Web cam.

The sweet deal about the wii, Move and kinect, is not the concept....its the great software (namely games) made by people who are experts in the field.

Trying to retrofit kinect on old titles is hardly a step in the right direction.

We need new games designed from the ground up to take advantage of this tech.

A la Dance Central, Wii Sports and Wii Fit.

Kids will go nuts (and they do).

Sure I can jerry rig the thing to play Quake 1 on a Pentium 2 desktop....but why??

I have played it. One of the best games i've played in 2010. Graphic style is very different and creepy but effective when it comes to hitting you with the hard puzzles thrown at you in the game. It's a shame it's not available for the other platfoms.

@ 3M_Chang. yeah local credit card works fine when linked with xbox but the card must have a U.S address tagged to it.

Billing address needs to be the address on the card
skybox is a shipping address
