So the xbox 360 now has a cooler design, is black, wifi built in and runs cooler. It looks like its becoming a PS3.

Except it still has the better online experience, more competitive players and is still a gaming console that can do media - NOT a media device that plays games XD

PS its been black before so it's only shiny like the PS3 now...

Well, I got my Joytron today, and I just put it through its paces on Xbox Live, with some Street Fighter 4.

I am HAPPY to report that it performs as good as they say.  All inputs were spot on.
Charge moves, circular moves, combos.  It was just like the good old PS1 Alpha 2 days.

To those of you who can fight quite well on the original Xbox 360 controller, I say kudos to you,
because that D-pad is absolutely ATROCIOUS for SF games.

So now I can roll wit da big dawgs.

Who say it?  :happy0203:

Dancing without a Dance Pad? A pet game without a stylus or Controller....Kinect is a revolutionary way to play games without having to use any controller...You can control the Xbox with your hands and voice...thats the point. But I guess you missed it...Enjoy the Dildo, I mean MOVE....

Come on Vice..don't you think that games will be made that can harness the technology in a more
meaningful way?  We don't really expect to play shooters like Gears Of War with Kinect.  Or can we?
Who knows?  Maybe some game dev out there will come up with something to knock our socks off.

I may finally be able to get family members, who are averse to gaming, to finally make the 'jump' with Kinect.
If you can't see the value of that, then I cannot help you.

To dismiss Kinect as a gimmick before it even launches is unfair.

Kudos to Microsoft for trying something new, not just basically 'ripping off' a tried and true tech.

Innovation is where its at, and I think Microsoft has nailed it.

The same negative things were said about the Wii, and look at where we are at today.  The Wii has outsold the Xbox 360 and PS3.
Kinect will find its niche.  Of that I am certain...and Microsoft has the marketing savvy to push this into the mainstream like no one else.

I say, give it a chance.  If it flops, then Microsoft will pay dearly...but I have a feeling it won't.

And why can't they make a peripheral like a wireless GUN perhaps, just for FPS games, that has a trigger, reload buttons etc....Your body does the strafing and movement...can't think beyond the small box Blu? Hmmm?

I think Vice misses the point that Kinect was developed for MS to capture the casual market with fun controller-less gaming. They've been saying this since day 1 of Natal. If MY mom is asking me to buy a game then they must be doing something right. You really need to stop being "serious and competitive" all the time.

However, it would be stupid to think that MS doesn't have plans for integration in a few "serious" games. I don't see Gears getting it or any FPS for that matter to even think that is utterly ridiculous. Adding an additional controller peripheral would go against the controller-less marketing they're going for presently.

Actually Microsoft has much less in terms of risk than the Wii did. Remember this is an already established platform with a huge library of games and a strong online presence with many paying subscribers.

Some may say that this is lame since it looks like it is targeting casual gamers like the Wii did. Lets just think for a minute, suppose they did not bother with the hardcore gamer making the kinect only for casual games/movie couch potatoes too lazy to find the remote. How could this flop? They would have a totally new demographic to now push the console to. The system already has hardcore fps games, now it can move into wii territory which as we have seen has been very lucrative.

If on the other hand this failed, how much have they really lost in terms of brand image? I think the RROD issue would have been much more damaging to their brand image. In comparison if the Wii did not get it right the console would have been doomed, if the 360 doesn't get it right well it'll just be another forgotten peripheral.

Though I must say the Move does not seem as impressive, if both can offer the same level of accuracy I can see the argument for the Kinect, in terms of cost alone as I am seeing multiple users on one Kinect? vs. having to get multiple wireless peripherals for the move.
