This is my advice when using those 2 day codes, use them as EARLY in the morning as you can as last I tried one it only lasts 2 days by date, not 48hours. So if you use it late at night you will only have until 12am of the following day or just barely more than 1 day then.

I've had three XBOX 360's fail on me over the last two years and to be honest, i don't regret not RMA any of them because of the fear of what i might have gotten back from MS.

Well yeah those RMA ones tend to fail since the fixes they do aren't perfect and the hardware itself is flawed. If you are lucky you might get a new replacement unit at times.

Wait nah you had 3 new 360's fail on you at different times?

Played Tekken 6 earlier, seems like a very good port on Namco's part.

Yes, they recently did a shrink of the components again, so smaller cooler CPU and GPUs and smaller mainboard. Can't rem the new codename. But the answer is yes.

Blu-ray add-on coming to the Xbox 360?
« Reply #1376 on: October 22, 2009, 02:15:43 PM »
http://news.cnet.com/8301-13506_3-10381058-17.html

Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer told Gizmodo in a recent interview that a Blu-ray accessory could be coming to the Xbox 360.

"Well I don't know if we need to put Blu-ray in there," Ballmer told Gizmodo, responding to a question about Blu-ray in the Xbox 360. "You'll be able to get Blu-ray drives as accessories."

Ballmer then quickly hedged his bets a little, saying that he believes that "the future of movies is on-demand, actually, as opposed to via distribution on physical media." He then said that his company is focused on trying to create the "best overall entertainment experience" that it can.

Ballmer's comments about on-demand video echoes what we've heard from the Microsoft camp all year. The company has consistently said that it's tying its future to Netflix and streaming HD content.

But what about Blu-ray? Rumors have been swirling for over a year that a Blu-ray add-on is coming to the Xbox 360. In fact, last October, it was reported that Microsoft had Blu-ray add-ons from Samsung and Toshiba ready for store shelves. Those products (if they existed) were never released.

But are Ballmer's comments confirmation that a Blu-ray add-on is finally coming to the Xbox 360? It's tough to say. Ballmer might have misspoken. Or he could have spoken out of turn. When Gizmodo followed up with Microsoft press relations, they weren't so forthcoming.

"Our immediate solution for Blu-ray-quality video on an Xbox 360 is coming this fall with Zune Video and 1080p instant-on HD streaming," Microsoft told Gizmodo following the interview. "As far as our future plans are concerned, we're not ready to comment."

Microsoft did not immediately respond to my request for comment.

So what is Microsoft's vision going forward? Is the company focusing its efforts on streaming HD content or will it really deliver a Blu-ray add-on for the Xbox 360? At this point, Microsoft hasn't confirmed that such an add-on exists, so Ballmer's comments are open for interpretation.

So we leave it up to you. Will the Xbox 360 feature a Blu-ray add-on? Let us know what you think in the comments below.

Microsoft offering on-site Xbox 360 repair at new stores
« Reply #1378 on: October 23, 2009, 12:47:12 PM »
I was wondering has anyone had or know of people that have had their jasper units fail on them?

Quote
http://www.destructoid.com/microsoft-offering-on-site-xbox-360-repair-at-new-stores-152768.phtml

The very first Microsoft store opened today in Scottsdale, Arizona. I ran over to check it out and we'll have more on that a little later today, but there's one story that I'm sure will interest all of the 360 owners out there who have ever had an issue with console failure (i.e. most of us). MS is taking some of the hurt out of the repairs process by allowing for in-store repair service.

Microsoft stores will be equipped to handle some basic repair tasks. All you have to do is walk in the store with your console, drop it off at the Answers Desk and a Microsoft Store employee will then diagnose the issue that you're having. If it's something simple -- such as a faulty power supply causing the Red Ring of Death -- they'll rectify the situation immediately.

If it has to be shipped out, however, things are just about as awesome. Once the store has received your console, the main distribution center is notified and a replacement unit can be sent right away.

Yeah, it's only any good if there's a Microsoft Store in your area, but it's exactly the way this sort of thing should be handled. I really have to give them credit for this one. Come back a little later for a closer look at the Microsoft Store.

Gonna take the plunge and get one of those PS2 to 360 converters. Not going with the XCM or Mayflash as those have been proven to have input lag. Found this little beauty while browsing the tech forums at Shoryuken.

http://www.1emulation.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=30983

Its from some Korean company called Joytron and the lag tests have been very very good. Only downside is you need a wired controller to use it which is a non issue for me. Looks pretty good for $23USD.
