Anyone getting problems with slow downloads from Xbox Live marketplace in the past 2 days?

I checked the cable but its not that. I read about opening some ports , did it but still slow. All the network connection tests on the 360 pass with no errors. I downloaded Soul Calibur 4 demo from the 360 and then on the PS3 to compare download times. The 360 demo which is smaller took close to 6 hours. The PS3 demo downloaded in about an hour.

I thought maybe the issues were with the 360 not being compatible with this blink zhone modem. However before I leave for work which is about 4:45am I tried the Live marketplace and the speed was as fast as my connection. I've therefore come to 2 conclusions

1. The Live marketplace servers are swamped and slow during 6-11 pm  or
2. TSTT is throtthling xbox live marketplace dowloads during 6-11pm.

Anyone can confirm this?

Interesting.
I am having zero problems in the US with download times- less than 10 mins and I have a demo downloaded. I know alot of people have been complaining about connecting their 360 from Trinidad.
When I was in trini we used to have blink before we switched to Flow. Blink used to be a nightmare for me to setup a connection.

hmmmm never thought of dat apprentice check it out an see if it work an tell meh nah, but to b honest do we REALLY NEED the video store???

there are other ways of obtaining movies its called torrents lol
This is true. But you are talking about legalities in two different countries.  You know this is catering to the US....no one else really. And renting movies here is so damn easy AND faster than downloading a torrent (unless you have a paid rapidshare account). For the latter being caught doing that could mean either:
1. a ban from your network provider
2. a CAP download from your provider
3. a NICE US 200k fine
4. JAIL iymc. And they dont play in some of these states with that, like here in Cali.

There is a RIDICULOUS number of people that buy/rent original movies in the US, more than enough to warrant a online store to rent or buy movies. It is constantly being lauded by designers, reviewers and game sites (Kotaku, Giant Bomb, David Jaffe's web blog) that ask the "what are you doing this weekend" on forums and on their home pages.

Are you using a wireless or hardwire connection? Also W1nTry has Blink and he might want to chime in here about any problems he may be having, but he hasn't really complained about download speeds...W1nTry?

Anyone here got experience repairing Xbox 360s themselves? Been looking around the net for repair guides. Decided to give it a shot....can't get it to MS to fix anyhow.

Last new unit I had after MS fixed it lasted less than a month lol.

Been lookin at this video....

Yo woody, out of curiousity... what power protection do you use for your Xbox? I connect mine to a UPS. I would suggest in the LEAST connecting it to a Voltage regulator as low voltage is a much less noticeable killer of hardware than high voltage.

Regardless of what MS says the failure rate for 360 systems is 100%. There isn't really a permanent fix for this outside of Jasper (or so we hope) and I've seen a Jasper system RROD right out of the box with the error code indicating mainboard as the fault.

Hmm so I was trying to figure out the correct screws etc. however that seems like too much hassle, will probably just order a cheapo kit off amazon and use their screws and my arctic silver/cleaner....

http://www.amazon.com/s?ie=UTF8&tag=mozilla-20&index=blended&link_code=qs&field-keywords=xbox%20repair%20kit&sourceid=Mozilla-search

Actually after reviewing this guy's feedback I would say this fix is legit and would work in most cases.....could this be an easy way for us outside the US to at least have some comfort if things go RED hehe.

It is funny how many people making money off xbox 360 instructions and repair stuff......

I still think its a relatively safe investment otherwise, I've waited for quite a while before deciding which route I wanted to take and after using all 3 consoles daily for almost a year I took the plunge with the 360.
