SOFTWARE titan, Microsoft has decided that parents need to take more control over their kid's use of its games console.

A new feature is being added to the Xbox 360 includes a limit to the amount of time children can play.

The big idea is to make the console more attractive to parents who love torturing their children with autocratic and dictatorial controls under the guise of preservation. This is a big market across the pond.

Volish researchers found that 90 percent of parents had some restrictions on video gaming, with half of those being limits on playing time.

Robbie Bach, president of Microsoft's entertainment and devices division said that as the Xbox 360's customer base broadens, more punters demand to be censored.

The new function is similar to one installed in Windows Vista which is designed to stop adults wasting all their day searching for porn. The new timer can be set to limit playing time on a daily or weekly basis.

It is optional and any child who doesn't want the parental controls used would be adviced not to tell their parent or guardian they are there or should hide the instruction manual.

useful, I already use the password feature for games... though that doesn't stop my bros from playing the arcade games...

the only reason i wanna get a 360 is because of the 360's exclusives...

The known fact of a possibilty that my investment would "spoil" very quickly is what is keeping me back from spending the cash...
Yes it can be repaired...but the dramaz of sending it to repair is just toooo much...

So i will continue to moan about technicalities...

Cuz when you think of it this way.... a 360 is the equivalent of 5-7 (yes if i buying i going elite) ps3 titles for a system that has a slim chance of failing...

in LIVE you go on......it setsup a match based on your skill and ability. None of this "drop me into a game juss so" scenario....Although dont mind that i HATE the "log in and then you get kicked" because of some FAT ASS who feel he worth more than SPIT hosting a game decide to kick you from that game.

stop looking at this bogus garbage you read on forums and on gamenews sites. Full of S H I T. get a 360 and feel online the way its supposed to be.....end of mc story.

on another note. PS3 is starting to do it well....and i like that. The update is a step in the right direction.

When they build a better interface to accomodate age and certain restrictions ill deal Wii. Somethign CAN be done, a password system (like in cable channels) or SOMEthing...but this friend code shit just NOT working hoss.

I totally get ya on the superior live service...
I for sure getting a 360 sometime down the line...

watch meh nah, that maybe allyuh point of view, but to ppl who actually play it and give it a chance, enjoy it, no less than the other 2 nex-gen consoles, aiight? wii and it's games worth a lot more than its price, be happy with its cheap price and what it is, but i suppose everyone isn't the same, i'm just stating some facts, if yuh doht think it worth it then, what can i tell you...

Get a PS3 or 360 and watch what happens. Online play alone will change the way you play consoles. Guaranteed.
RRoD is hell for a Trini, sending it all the way to the US to fix and then sending it all the way back. As for anyone in the US and Canada, its a no brainer....get the damn thing.
We dont play consoles ppl, we play games. You cant play HALO 3 and bawl at fellow trinis on anything but a 360, you cant play Resistance and Warhawk and bawl at anyone unless you have a PS3 and you cant Brawl with Trinis who feel they know they head from their @ss bout Smash and cut they @ss on anything else except a Wii.

Quick question, what happens when you finish the game and the story ends? Then what? The point of ONLINE is so that you can keep playing the game that you like against other people who also like the game which makes it that much better. It's so easy for someone who has no experience with Xbox 360 and Xbox Live to say that it's not a big deal. Well I feel sorry for you, since you obviously are one of the unfortunate ones. Don't knock something until you've tried it. Yes, there are RROD problems, but the PS2 had it's problems when it first launched but people have short term memory or have not been gaming long enough to remember. Whatever it is, each console has it's Pros and Cons, as gamers you shouldn't care either way, the point is to GAME, not moan and complain about failure rates and sound like a Sony commercial. Be Gamers, not suckers for PR and Forum Rants. Lets all game and stop complaining. Peace.

lemme make something clear. Right now
1. Gameplay
2. Graphics
3. Storyline
4. Multiplayer

the 4th has only now been added to games. When creating a game you look at these features and decide the use of them and the viability of them. Why people buy the game and why some games focus on storyline more than gameplay and graphics.

When i mean gameplay i dont mean tight controls i mean innovative controls. MOST games have ONE of these features where they HIT a target and get a gimmick or style that THEY believe personifies their game.

Few games hit all the marks and those games are sometimes regarded as the juggernauts. These games take a MINIMUM of 5 years to make and a HUGE budget.

Multiplayer is absolutely necessary for FPS games thesedays. Its the FIRST question that is brought up in a focus group when the build of an IP is created. The questions are
1. Hows the multiplayer
2. where are the guns

Its stupid, but THAT is how it is.

Personally i dont ALWAYS feel to play a single player game if it doesnt have a good storyline, the gameplay may be great but if the story is retarded or just realy poor I dont feel to play it.

I got fedup halfway through God of War 2 not because the gameplay was much better than the first game but because i hated the story. Power Trip Kratos who feel he is the bomb running around wanted to qq and kill everyone because "he vex". wta, i dont want to play a bottom like that.

On the OTHER hand Gears of War didnt have any HUGE story, but the gameplay and graphics MADE you want to keep playing. EVERYONE play through the campaign and fought Berserker and REALLLLLL bawl for the fight. REAL men had a hella time using the upgraded duck and cover feature we ALL SHOULD KNOW was used in kill.switch years ago.

Another thing to keep in mind. These game designers are pretty....how to say it.....DUMB at times. You tell me you can make a game Timeshift or Conan and RELASE THE MC GAME in the wake of Halo 3 and Heavenly Sword. I mean fellas.....Timeshift just up and went like a fart in the wind......timeWHO? you drop this game when Crysis, HALO 3, COD4 come out.....who d ASS care b out mc Timeshift.
A game is created by Clive Barker, Jericho. Great idea, fantastic even....and then wtf. I was amazed by the demo and disheartened by the review.
What about LAIR? omg wtf! You could belive that Factor 5 had the outdasity to say "we not playing the game right"......well MMMMMCCCC.....if we pickup a game, and then you need SONY to send INSTRUCTIONS to the reviewers TEACHING them how the game "supposed" to be played what does that mean?
It means your implementation of gameplay mechanics was @SSSSSS and you didnt focus on the control configuration in comparison to the viability of the mc game. JEEEEZUS wtf alyuh does keep your brains in your @ss? The textures are great and the lighting is the worst i have EVER seen. Its like each group of animators, lighters, sound testers, control designers, level designers etc were NEVER talking to each other and their excuse at the end is "well i do MY part". Fellas....nobody notice....the game is still SHHHHIIIT.

wrt online play. I eh hear a man talk bout online play for Darkness yet....because the online play is L A M E.

I do agree with Rten argument though. I mean story for me is a TOP priority in a game, but it DOES go hand in hand with gameplay as a colleague of mine rightly argued a day. These are the factors that keep someone wanting to play the game. Personally though when i finish a game i dont go back to it. I dont go "well i wonder if i did xyz instead of abc..." i couldnt care less, the game done, i done.

aiight shivadee, u prove ur point, but to redlum now: you could never say i have no experience with xbox live, i played it on multiple occasions, i  know what online gaming feels like, u telling me ting with no kinda evidence to back it up, trust me ppl, but shivadee, the key factors u stated " gameplay, graphics, storyline, multiplayer", yeah basically u just put in a nutshell, but as to consider graphics, if u were a game reviewer, would u rate the game poorly if the story gameplay and everything else was top notch, but the graphics weren't, comparing to the other consoles? i know i wouldn't, lemme put it this way, if the graphics were good or acceptable for the console it was released on, but wasn't great compared to incredible graphics of the xbox 360, would u say, "this game is S_H_I_T, i doh want it", would u say dat? seriously yuh had tuh be rel mad to say dat.

first of....as a former game reviewer......generally speaking a game reviewer doesnt know their head from their ass bout a game and why a game is "good" or "not good"
Its a matter of opinion as a game reviewer. MANY times have we played games reviewers thought we terrible and we thought were great.
I remember one reviewer from Gamepro once said he didnt like Jet Set Radio because he is Brittish and didnt like the music.....wtf.

Another thing to note and to get back to my point. You dont rate graphics separately from everything else. You dont say....okay graphics, check....gameplay, check.....storyline, check. These are not independent of each other. A game is created with EVERYTHING in mind. and a GOOD game has the factors to QUANTIFY why they have those implimentations.

a simple game like Brain Age for the DS does not have stellar graphics, and no doubt you could have implemented features that USE stellar graphics. This was not the POINT of the game, the point was GAMEPLAY. It has NO story, its just progress per se and it develops as you do. Using simple dependency features you progress.

To answer your question, NO i would not say a game is crap because graphics are "ordinairy" but then it DEPENDS ON THE GAME.
again.....FPS games MUST have top of the line graphics MOST of the time to be good. This is one of the FOCAL features of a FPS game, its VISUAL presentation.
However playing a game like say.....Wii Sports the graphics are very simplistic but that is not the INTENTION of the game. It focuses on gameplay more than graphics.

I remember a person once said he didnt like Resident Evil 4 (in a preview article i read on Gamasutra.com) because RE is about zombies and these people were not. So they didnt like it. However the story was good, the graphics were great the gameplay was great...so why that? its because he was thinking INDEPENDENTLY of the features of the game.
Sure it SHOULD have zombies because its called RE...but then if you want to nitpick like some of these reviewers do you can say well its Umbrella, they deal in bioweapon warfare and this is another exerpt of that bioweapon warfare, or WHATEVER you can MAKE something up. the POINT is that no one CARES if its zombies or not.......shit trying to kill you, its intense, its fun, it has a compelling storyline and alot of people liked it .....sales and the multiple iterations of it speak for itself.

Bottom line.....you judge graphics, gameplay, storyline, multiplayer and such wrt the genre of game and its presentation. not just by themselves.
