According to the German newspaper Der Spiegel, ten Xbox 360 development kits have been confirmed as being stolen from a warehouse in Düren in north-west Germany.

The kits apparently arrived for storage at the warehouse in late August, where they were to be stored in unmarked packages prior to being sent to developers. As soon as the kits were reported missing, both the Austrian federal police and the German public prosecutor’s office began investigations into the theft.

Images of what may be up to four of the stolen kits have subsequently appeared online, one on the website of a noted 'mod chip' creator SmartXX. An awkwardly worded statement from the company appears to indicate that these were some of the stolen kits, but that they were returned to Microsoft as a goodwill gesture. However, the company has also claimed knowledge that an additional fourteen development kits have also been stolen in Germany in recent months.

Raids of homes and businesses in both nearby Austria and in Germany have recovered three of the development kits, although it is not clear whether authorities have leads on the other seven. Certainly, if development kits have been in the hands of hackers and mod chip creators since as early as August, then Microsoft could be faced with an unexpectedly early problem with piracy and unauthorized hardware and software.

Well, the X-Box 360 is out.
And, unfortunately, you seriously get a whole lot more than you bargained for.

Seriously, a console that crashes?
Pfft. Good thing I was never a Microsoft fan.
Let's hope the PS3 comes out a lot better than this...

It's wat i expected, not that i dont like the system...heck...gimme $500 buck and i'll buy one first chance.
I think the system is built mainly with computer sofware and harware components  so i guess we must expect some STickage and also i think they are makin a big deal out of this than it should be. My xbox used to crash....my computer still crashes.....and ive experiencd crashes for PS2(WITH LIGET GAMES)...not sure for gamecube.....

SERIOUSLY for all consoles....in this day and age a console SHOULD NOT crash ..one exception is when electricity go...lol

im reading allot about these things. They have not confirmed that it was the games or the console

just FYI

the ENTIRE first generation of Gamecubes have a laser problem, if you have one of those that dont have one you in the 10 percent with good consoles. How i know? I was in that 90 percent.......TWICE.....good thing i was under waranty.

PS2 and PSP had this same "problem" when launched. X button sticking, pixels missing on the screen. I never see this problem with any of JK's PSP's and the man have launch machines. This looking like plenty propoganda

I went by 4 different people over the past few days checking out their XBOX 360's not one have that problem. So from PERSONALLY seeing the console and playing it and watching them men peung PD0 for hours on end, the system is fine.

To be honest, I blame the fact that manufacturers oftentimes bring out next-gen consoles to satisfy time constraints, and, as a result, the first batch always has some problem with it.

That's why, to me, it's always better to wait until the next batch comes out.
I'll probably never get a system the day it comes out, because there could be something wrong with it.

THat is a good point though. There are always rumours. There are 10 generations of PS2 (regular) and 2 gens of slimlines out already. Actually the gen 10 has a faulty lens, SONY outsourced to a taiwanese company for that model and they did a terrible job, plenty v10 systems giving trouble.

Doh blame nobody ifyou want to wait. I guess in this case it may not make a difference, because I go hadda wait anyway. damn short stock :(

Ok here what going on.

Apparently what happening to the XBOX 360 crashing is not the system itself or the games, its the power supply. The power supply is now external as in part of the power cord. The thing apparently giving off one sh!tload of heat and causing the system to overheat and shut down, and i mean this is every 10 minutes.....so that friggin irritating....and i not buying a system after fretting to get one for so long for it not to work.

NOW wAIT. this not happening with every console. Somehow, doh ask mih HOW, my cousin in trini have an XBOX 360 with FIFA and COD2 and he having no problems atall with the ting and he playing night an day.

My advice is to holdup and wait till MS fix this problem. More than likely the next shipment of XBOX systems gonna be cool....no pun intended.

Things are looking rather grim for the 360.....

See the November 20th, 2005 article.

Actually since my last post you not seeing a single person making a comment about the 360 overheating again.......that means 2 things, everyone in the entire United States stop talking or it was propoganda. This does always happen.

the 360 i can guarantee you is not seeing anything "grim". You should see XBOX LIVE, it CRAZZZZYYY. Them ting selling like crazy on EBAY and men paying 2wice the price. I checking for the past 3 days. 1800 systems sell on EBAY alone launch day. They restocking stores Wednesday.......i goin to camp out

I feel that is fake video dere, That could very well be a PC emulation. Everyone who use their XBOX games on their 360 that backwards compatible say they having no probs, including deceptiojn, HALO and FIFA. Deez is the fellas i know up here
