Ok...that shiznit made me howl with LuLz.

+1 ma nugga.

Its true that my Xbox aint get NEARLY as much runtime as these other guys' own, but
still, my bro sweat it a LOT in my absence.  I'm really surprised it stayed working this long
when everyone I know with one has had them fail...and some more than one.

Its really appalling how high the failure rate is. :(
Its really hard for me to recommend to a parent (who may already not know enough)
to get a Xbox for their kids, when this is still happening to the latest 'Jasper' units as well.

...but confirm this for me peeps...did Chinara's SECOND Xbox RROD also?  Wasn't that a Jasper, or Falcon?

yes her SECOND Xbox did RROD and it was a Falcon I believe...

If it were mere luck then there would be a cure, level coceyea broom iwmc.. sadly it's not the case. It's just poor QA.

dunno if stats out yet on it..

i think there probably were falcons on shelves up till earlier this year ( some pros and elites mostly)

it makes me think though, when i go onto nexgenwars, and see the projected stats on sales, how many of those 360s are repeat buyers cuz a console got fried...

( tho they say that the 3rd party software attach rate is pretty high.. 8.1 , higher than the other consoles combined   )
http://www.afterdawn.com/news/archive/16300.cfm
wunder what 1st party rates are, tho

Microsoft responds to Xbox 360 54.2 percent failure rate report, doesn't dispute the data

http://www.engadget.com/2009/08/24/microsoft-responds-to-xbox-360-54-2-percent-failure-rate-report/

Admittedly, when we saw Game Informer's survey that pegged Xbox 360's failure rate at 54.2 percent, we were thinking that was a bit steep of a number, possibly bumped up a few digits from some possible sampling errors. So when we were gearing up to read Microsoft's statement responding to the data, we fully expected some harsh rebuttal of the number. Turns out we got disappointed. A spokesperson for Redmond pointed to its superior entertainment value, its "best warranty in the industry" and its "constantly improving design, manufacture, and performance." At no point is there a dispute or even direct reference to the findings, which is really something that could've helped public perception on a nagging issue. How about taking a page from Fujifilm, eh Microsoft?

man makes a fantastic point.

microsoft figures are probably incredibly buffed by repeat buys.

For every 1 wii owner, there is a 360 owner who bought a console 3 times. lol

Talk about stacking the numbers in your favour. You get the stats and you get the $$. 3 times over.

Kudos Microsoft. I don't know how you do it.

WOW...ain't competition great? :)

I was reading through the comments...and this guy illustrates what I've been saying all along with regard to the whole Xbox 360 experience...

To the guy a little earlier and anyone that claims 360 isn't worth it due to the RROD problem: my 360 just RROD'd for the 2nd time this year... MS makes it super easy to send in and they cover the repair even though it's "out of warranty." Luckily, I do have a PS3 to play for the next couple weeks 'til the 360's back. But then I'll be right back to the 360. Because the 360 provides a hands down better overall gaming and entertainment experience. Better GUI, Netflix and any game that appears on both consoles runs better on the 360. The only thing PS3 does better on 360 on are the exclusives, which I'm totally stoked for. But that's like 4 games to date, and about 5 in the next 3 years. The whole rest of video gaming goes better on the 360. Even if my 360 were to RROD again and for some reason MS didn't cover repair, I'd use it as an excuse to get the recently marked down 360 Elite.

...and that, my friends, is why M$ will continue to sell 360s...regardless of RROD.

Now, he may not be all correct in some of his statements, but the point has been made.

It's true. If I had warranty support in trinidad for my 360, I woulda probably get 2. One to use while the other went for repair hehe.

Nah if we had proper support in trinidad for the 360 I might not have bought a ps3 in the first place, reliability was one of the factors I took into consideration when I got the ps3 this year.
