Tekken 5 Bundle
« on: February 04, 2005, 01:01:32 AM »

Namco and Hori are tag-teaming up to bring fighting fans the ultimate bundle for Tekken 5. For $99.99, gamers can buy a copy of Tekken 5, a customized controller, and a six-disc case to hold every release in the series. Only 20,000 units will be produced and it'll be available on the same day as the standalone game; March 15. As a bonus, some retailers will include an art book with a purchase of the bundle.

That stick is whack, can you imagine doing a Death Cradle Roll command on that obscure alignment of buttons? I must say, I am not a fan.

Nice stick.
But I can't achieve anywhere near the speed on a stick that I can with a pad,so I'll probably pass.

I think that control is geared more to the hardcore arcade fans, but i don't think u'ld get the same feel from something so small.
I think most ppl might just buy it for the MADDD artwork though.

That thing is sure to play better than half the arcade sticks on the market.  The hori name guarantees that.

Actually I'm not  so much a fan of Hori, but RB recently bought one of these and he says is pretty good so you can trust his word when it comes to the fighters.

Better stick to get is a MAC stick I believe it's called.Superior to the Hori in every way.
But to be honest I don't even know if they still make these.Even with the Horis, these stcisk were the highest level of quality back in the TTT days.I do believe Castel uses one of these.

It's MAS sticks. They still make these but they cost upward of 100US and there is no comparison between MAS and Hori. MAS are american style sticks, Hori makes japanese style sticks.  Because a certain well known individual uses it does not necessarily make it better.

True but then again many ameriican gamers agree with the following

"Playing on a jap stick is like writing with a fine pen;Playing on a US stick is like writing with a crayola that hasn't been sharpened in weeks."

Ah,MAS.Thanks for correcting me.
You don't think the fact that well known US players prefer MAS is a point in their favour?
IIRC the whole SoCal crew used to swear by MAS.

The MAS stick is far more customizable than the Hori. The biggest sticking point I believe was because you had a choice of springs, which allowed gamers to recreate the fluidity of Korean sticks.
To me,an endorsement from Castel is like an endorsement from God.You realize that this guy actually uses his video combos is real matches right?

Wait what's that?  Is that a contradiction I smell.  Why would MAS have to recreate anything to how Koreans have it if the Korean thing wasn't superior to begin with?

Man I could write a long post on this. I won't though. But in short all US arcades like Trinidadian ones use Bat style sticks. What kind of stick do you think they would choose? Socal is full of marvel dudes anyway.

MAS doesnt use the exact Korean style stick. Korean Sticks have a rubberband tension spring which needs constant rotation to loosen up.

He isn't the only combo maker that uses his combos in real matches. Look at the Marvel scene and the SF3 scene and also look at real life people like us who use them.

Endorsement is a funny thing, because one person can endorse all they want.90% of trini tekken players don't have a clue who Castel is and for that reason most likely won't care.

In the end it comes down to the person's preference. As I said before ( apparently you missed it) there is no comparing the 2. Hori and MAS are manufacturers. Hori is considered THE best commercial manufacturer of Japanese Sticks and MAS is considered ONE of the best for American Sticks. Most of the serious persons on the scene in America would have their own custom built stick anyway.

Ummm. I prefer the "american/bat" style because it's more comfortable. That pac man "japanese style stick with the ball on the end hurts my hands :(
