Local match vids to promote fighting game scene ?
« on: November 23, 2004, 12:12:42 AM »
This is for more the hardcore fighting peeps , but what say you to the idea of having matches for the purpose of promoting the local fighting game scene. I've been a fan of the American and Japanese vids for a long time and I thought it would be great if we adopted the trend locally. We got alot of talent down here , what better way to show it off.

What say you ??

YAY, no doubt.

I'm still looking for new SF blood out there.  It's hiding somewheres and I don't know why.

lol

great idea rb!

ent @ local fighters

For the past few days, Neon and I have been clashin in Street Fighter, First to 10 with Kenshin as referee.

Serious battle.

Chalkin kills with pen, paper, slippers, whatever nearest. lol

serious sweatage.

I sure the same thing going on in homes all over the country but it gettin no publicity. The only time it will be significant to put on tv/internet, is when the names behind the match are known.

The #1 street fighter player vs the #2.

Same for Guilty Gear X, SC, etc...

Let us start an informal ladder to get those rankings.

There are some obvious seeds. Me in Street Fighter Alpha 3
Bryan Fury in Tekken 4
Neon in Street Fighter 2 Turbo
RB in SF3 Third Strike
etc...

We could start from their and keep track / record the events a la the footage from the Soul Calibur 2 tournament.

(DAMN DAT MC CENTRALITE NINJA WHO SHALL REMAIN NAMELESS!)

Well I don't really think a ladder system would appropriate so soon.. but anyways as far as videos go here is what i propose

matches taking place on a console can be recorded via VHS  or a camera or in my case direct feed to a tv card. Matches via emulator can be saved via the emulator recording features. I recommend Final Burn Alpha (nebula and kawaks screw up if any adjustment is made to emu such as maximising etc. I.E 1 second of a pause of any sort will screw up the recording).

Any other recommendations / suggestions ?

lol
um well 8mb should be average video size  for a 3-4 min match it  could be less.

Emu recordings are very small could get a good couple hours of matches and the file would still be under a meg.

i think that casual games should be posted first. Just to give a taste. We all know tourneys bring out the best play but since a tourney isnt gonna be called very soon I think we can start with some casual matches.

Casual Matches = games for fun, nothing special , can be done from home hence the term casual.

As far as getting the footage up here, if anyone has matches on a vhs tape i can facilitate the conversion and upload of matches.  Get cracking boys :D

Great, just the person I wanted to see.

Do you think you can beat me in CvS2 now?  I mean, I was only playing for a couple of weeks back then and I still gave you thunder.  Come face the storm now.

Oh yea, I'll be putting Rolento on my team.

1. You're mistaken. Street Fighter 2 Turbo was NEVER my game. Marvel vs. Capcom is. Get your facts straight. I can give you a decent fight, yes, but it certainly ain't my 'precious'. Yeesh...did you forget your Consort Mall roots already?

2. Punctuation is your friend.

3. Writing a post in ALL CAPS is just annoying. Please, don't do that.

....next time, if you're going to give talks, please.
Get your facts straight.
NEO may not rule all in Street Fighter, but he will horsewhip your arse in Marvel vs. Capcom. TALK DONE.
