SPK's Invitational Tournament Version 1.0
« on: December 02, 2004, 12:09:16 PM »
Well most of the questions have been determined for my tourney, with the exception of finalization of prizes (which will be done shortly), but I believe I have enough information to make this official.

The tournament is going to be held on Saturday 22nd January 2005.

As said before, the tournament is Invitation-only, so don't even bother coming if you weren't invited.

This tournament would be ADVANCED-ONLY!!!

You all have had more than enough time to prepare your decks for the banlist, so it's time for no more excuses, let's see how everyone fares in this case...

There will be a maximum of 32 duelists allowed for the tournament, it will be done in a straight knockout format.

Prizes (subject to change on availability):

1st:  1 box LOD 1st Ed.
2nd: 1 box RDS (may be 1st Ed.)
3rd:  3 RDS Special Edition packs (with the variant cards)
4th   3 IOC Special Edition packs.

The tournament entry fee will have to be on the high side, to accomodate the level of prizes being offered, as well as limited numbers of duelists being allowed entry, and will stand at $60.

Also, the tournament is being confirmed to being Upperdeck official...unlike some other tournaments that are claiming to be legal locally, yet have no record of their tournaments on Upperdeck's website, this tournament is listed as an official tournament (just go to the tournament locator page on UDE's site and search for tournaments in T&T to confirm that).

As a result, all players must have an Upperdeck number to play in this tournament. Those who do not have one, PM me ASAP, and I will handle  the registration of a new number for you. If you forget your number, you have to email Upperdeck for it back.

In addition, players who cannot get in direct contact with me, can PM me here and give their name, callsign (if any), email, contact number...and upon reciept of this info, along with the UDE number, will be sent directions to the tournament location, as well as contact nos.

Players are asked to attend for 8am...registration is slated for 8:30am, with dueling starting for 9:30am for the latest...*and no Trini time excuses are being allowed! :P*

We will have drinks on sale, but food, we are allowing duelists to order food if they so wish, or if they willing to bring food to cook, fine by me :).

We are having a few twists to the straight dueling, but the duelists will learn of them on the day of the tournament. In addition, whoever is willing to bring a console, we have a TV that can be used if desired for all those who wanna get their gaming on.

Check here periodically for official updates, as well as any enquiries you may have of me.

LET"S DUEL!!!

It's not for everyone...basically it's more a 'cream of the crop' type tournament...

They have to request for invitation from me, and if i accept their invitation, then they will be granted permission for the tournament.

It's one of the main methods to filtering out the 'questionable characters', that always seem to be around until cards go missing, and then disappear shortly afterwards...

Cool. Then allow me to be the firt to make a request, on the behalf of me (and my brother, Brian, of course.)

And Banned List = YES. I know you're a man of your word, SPK. The last time I was to compete in a Banned List tournament, they changed it to a Traditional because some people whined. Hmph. Glad to see that you're going through with this.

Well technically you are ur bro are the 6th and 7th ppl who are in the tourney...5 ppl already signed up...

And technically you haven't signed up yet...you still have to PM me with u and ur bro's name, callsigns, email addresses, contact numbers, and UDE numbers (if you all have any). If you don't, then let me know ASAP, so I can give u a number and put u in the list of competitors.

Well after some discussion with some of the duelists interested, I have decided on the format of prizes to be awarded.

We will be sourcing 3 booster boxes (LOD 1st Ed., ROD, IOC).
The winner takes their pick of which box they want, 2nd place gets the 2nd pick, and 3rd and 4th place share the remaining box, with 3rd place getting 16 packs and 4th getting 8 packs...but for the 3rd/4th prize, we will be opening the packs to ensure that 3rd gets a decent number of holos in their prize...

In addition, there will be a 'special prize'...which is yet to be determined, but may be a card or pack or otherwise, this will not be revealed till the day of the tournament. At the quarterfinal stage, the remaining competitors will compete for this prize in that specific round. The winner of the prize has to be the person that does THE MOST LIFE POINT DAMAGE IN ONE TURN!!!!

Other details and any questions, you are free to post them here, or PM me...

Well I hope that the guys who decided to not play in the Woodbrook tournament, would instead look to come out for my tournament...to my knowledge, this is what some are considering to be the 'big tourney' for early 2005.

Those who have been issued directions, and are going to be TRAVELLING via maxi-taxi, I have to resend a new map, due to the very recent establishment of a transit hub in Grande.

Any questions about the tourney that hasn't been answered yet, feel free to inquire...:)

so besides competitors, there will be no gatt supporters and onlookers allowed?

no sweat reporters or moderators? nada?

i understand the invitation only stand point of the duelist, but i dont think the gatt public should be dismissed from cheering on their fave duelists.

could be a invitation only fanboy list as well? lol
cause i feel like gettin back into the game ( now that i not broke no more, lol) and being a fan boy at this tourney could bring back my interest in the game.

lol...

It's like this.

If you can be trusted, an exception may be made, after consultation with other duelists who are coming...but those will be few as a result, don't want too many people by me.

Sweat reports etc. for this event will be done by myself, as well as whoever else was present.

It's not our objective of leaving the public out, but more of the factor of keeping the unsavoury aspects out of the game.

If you are serious on coming, let me know for sure, and I will talk to my bro as well to determine if you can be let in.

Also, the majority of 'supporters' for the duelists, are the other duelists themselves, so it's not like they lose out on their support.

In response to a question about competitors' decks for the tournament, we have decided on the following method, when it comes to registering your deck.

Deck lists must be presented, and for the tournament, decks will be kept by myself, and distributed to each duelist when their scheduled match comes up.

If a player loses, they will be allowed to claim their decks again.

Also, random deck checks will be made to ensure that nobody is adding cards from post registration...so any trades must be done before deck registration!

Deck lists for registration and random checking I can agree with.  But if you intend to 'keep' and 'distribute for matches' duelists decks, I will not be attending.  I'm sorry.  As a rule I do not allow others to view or handle my decks without my presence, much less 'hold' my deck.  I'm sure my deck will be in 'good' hands, but I do not bend this rule for anyone.  I've spoken to the other members of my team and they will follow suit.
If you decide to change this requirement let us know.
