The gun katas blew my mind though, they were exceptionally well done.

Now I am a fan of the movie, however to say it was better than Matrix (the first movie NOT the failures that followed) is a bit much. I liked the guncatter scenes as much as the next guy, however in a real world type analysis it was ubsurd... apparently in addition to numbing ur emotions it also cut off ALL common sense... who knew that they would be incapable of stepping back a pace or two and pulling a trigger... or in the first place going so close is a bad idea. I really liked the concept of the movie and think the actor who played the leading cleric was a boss. It was a good movie, but would have benefitted more from a larger budget, better special effects and a better director.

Lol, this movie was nothing short of atrocious. Everyone knows I am a fan of the Matrix, but I am also fair. While Keanu comes across bland, so does Christian, and no, it’s not because of what the role demanded. He is not a great actor himself. That aside, the story line in this movie was just awful, completely boring. A real snooze fest. The gun katta nonsense was just that, nonsense. The fight choreography was also boring, and ridiculous at times. The pins on the end of the gun magazine… all I can say is… I don’t even know what to say. This movie was a disgusting failure, poor script, equally poor acting, horrible fight scenes. Not fun as a sci-fi flick, a kung-fu flick or philosophical flick. I wish I had more hands so I could give this movie 4 thumbs down!

Firstly, learn to spell nah. LOL @ guncatter. And then you wanna talk about a real world type analysis? and u use Matrix to support this? U think Morpheus could have made "the jump" in the real world? I think not. But that doesnt matter. It's scifi, just like equilibreum. The rules of the real world are bent. And good thing too.

& BTW bigger budget + most costly special effects does does not = a better movie. Look at LOTR, whose entire 3 film budget cost less than 1 star wars movie. And in addition, I pretty fed up of the whole 'bullet time" complex...I mean how many times are u going to use the same trick? Its refreshing to see a movie go orignal with some old school special effects for a change.

The difference is Keanu is bland 24 hrs a day, 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year, since the dawn of time. And it's exactly what the role demanded of Bale. Complete absence of any emotion. hmmm maybe Keanu would have been a better cast....Natural Blandless IYMC!

I won't respond to your other arguments because they are without merit and thus hold no weight outside of the rant. You highlight everything that made the movie popular and yet you say these there were "atrocious and horrible" without giving any explanation as to why. Sounds to me like u are bitter. Did this movie impress u so much that it diminished the light of the glorious Matrix series in yr eyes? Could it be that you strike out against it truly because truly u know its better and u can't accept it? Do you think Keanu is mad at you for going to see it? lol

Lol, this movie was nothing short of atrocious. -] Every aspect of this movie was poorly executed; to be honest the overall look of the film reminded me of Robocop 3 a little too much. The acting was poor and uninspired, the fight choreography was awful, the concept of the gun katta is utter garbage. This movie felt like it had a lot of inspirations and ideas behind it, but they just didn’t make it through the celluloid. It doesn’t even feel like a cult classic.

While Keanu comes across bland, so does Christian, and no, it’s not because of what the role demanded. -] I have nothing against Keanu or Christian; people bash Keanu constantly because of his lack of diversity. Well perhaps someone should realize this is his nitch. This is who he is as an actor. I don’t care who you are, you can be a film critic for New York Times, Newsweek magazine, Time, People, or even readers digest. At the end of the day, you make your living bashing Keanu and his poor performances, and he makes his living which is far above anything we make with his poor performances. So he may be bland, it seems that he created a genre to suit his performance style, because he has a laundry list of successful movies under his belt. It’s the same as Will Smith; he really is an awful actor. He is not a stand up comedian, but his hijinx prove to be successful on film. And now he is a top rated actor. As for Christian Bale, he is boring as Keanu, he is totally uninspired, and he has the same facial expression in every movie. Anything you can say about Keanu I can say about Christian.

That aside, the story line in this movie was just awful, completely boring. A real snooze fest. -] Please, this movie has nothing behind it. no feeling. Wow mankind is walking around like robots. Somebody hold the phone!

Not fun as a sci-fi flick, a kung-fu flick or philosophical flick. I wish I had more hands so I could give this movie 4 thumbs down! -] Self explanatory!

Oh, and if you had a discussion with me you would know that the visual effects of the Matrix has no appeal to me. It's all about the script where those movies are concerned. Spare me the unplugging nonsense.

I kinda have to agree with Striker. It does seem you are presenting judgements without justifications. Opinions without saying why you hold them. For example: you say the gun kata is utter garbage but why is it garbage?

a better comparison to equilibrium would be something more like minority report, which is better in anycase.

equilibrum had balance and it was dread where Matrix (espacially Reloaded) used computer graphcs event o walk (at times) and it killed the movie.

you see thats my point exactly

the action was not needed to tell the story. they just wanted a cool factor! which is why it really annoys me when you a'll continually compare this movie to matrix. Equilibrium couldn't decide what kind of movie it wanted to be. were they trying to philospical trying to bring across a point or were they just making a action flick. in all it didn't, they didn't pull it off. We could have possible have had a very deep heart wrenching movie about dealing, hiding and living with human emotions but in the end it came across very shallow and trying to be cool.

nuff said.
