Do you long to share out some "piggy"?

Do you hump the PC table when lixxin yr enemies and bawl out "this iz u!" ?

As odd as these phrases sound on the forums, I have heard them uttered by many gamers.....gamers who maintain themselves to be  heterosexuals.

It's back, the controversial thread that has been shut down on nearly every version of the forums. Ready for a fresh perspective from some open minded thinkers. This time lets avoid the negative gay stereotyping and maturely discuss the growing trend that is homosexuality, and more prevalent to GATT, how it has become incorporated on an increasing level into gaming culture.

Example. Last time i was in DEST approx 2 months ago, I witnessed a UT2004 team match. At the end, the Winners shouted to the losers "rape! rape in yr arse! Allyuh get piggy". Innocent outburst, or evidence of subtle gay culture? Do these ppl know what they are saying?

Now compare this to the days of SNS and even further back in TECH when losers would be greated by "Lixx in yuh MC! ) Sweet Lixx!". Notice the transition for the physical "Beatin up" reference of the old days to the Sodmizing analogy of the gamers of today.

I've seen the revolution of derogatory terms used in this very application several times over during my life already. The terminlogy is all that is changing. 1995 it was "lovely" terms like faggot, battyman and buller. Yuh get shots in yuh tun tun. Take lash in yuh pweff.

2004 it just morphed into the men raping men and piggy sharin talk. Same story, different storyteller.

All flavours of "gayness" iwmc. It doesn't help that "taboo" words are becoming more mainstream either. It's not uncommon to hear sex, bitch and whore / hoe used liberally on the airwaves nowadays.

Fassyness isn't the only victim, this applies to shout outs and cheers as well.

I believe this trend is consistent with society's overall growing acceptance of the alternative sexes... though to be honest I have been brought up a certain way, with certain beliefs which are contradictory to these alternatives, that detracts none from the fact that the gay community is growing all over the world, if shows like 'queer as folk', 'the L word', 'queer eye for the straight guy', etc. aren't a direct attempt by TV to glamourize or just generally over expose other lifestyles then you've either been living under a rock or just blind. Whatever is popularized by the media usually eventually becomes the norm... so the fact that the increased use of such seemingly homoerotic expressions has even made its way into Gatt is no surprise at all... only in a country like Jamaica would something like this take much longer to precipitate into an everyday slang, as they are an extremely homophobic society.

well, let me put some context around that, where I am from, we are extremely homophobic. Deep south.

Up north, things tend to be a bit more accepted. The fast life I guess. Much more "western culture" influence.

I think it is more worrying that people are lapping the stuff up. If they failed at the ratings, they would die quietly. Instead, they seem to be thriving and raking in the dough.

um... to be quite honest, i don't think that it's a sign of gayness at all, imo one of the ways that man (as far as i've seen) expressing his dominance is through sex. Building upon that, i would have thought a straight line could've been drawn linking the Pwnage/ownage of persons in a game to that of "them" or "ya'll" gettin rape, its just my opinion and i find it strange that no one sees this, it's like this, when i hear fallas talking bout a man get rape, it's usually accompanied by sentiments of said individuals being turned into a "Bitch" which just boils back down to my original impression, now as to the whole cic thing, i eh know what to say bout that one....lol

Well, it wopuld seem the outbursts are just an indication of some lack of brain power, i mean fellas be real, as much as America's influence pushes in that direction, i think only real men would battle on the consoles / platforms with more respect to their selves as well as their foes / competitors. yes i think that repect for ones self / sexuality is important. i mean dread read the good book

It's just another "insert meaningless derrogatory expression here".

The fact that it is "literally pro fassy" in this era is of no real import.

Just as the significance or the actual words rouse, cork, cool (which stayin forever in style) booyaka, plotoye, etc....is negligible. More important being the context, which has and forever will be the same in this particular application.

Then why not say "Rick James B!tch!" or "burn u lil F****T!" or anything that would force the homosexual identity upon the conquered gamer?

By saying phrases such as "take piggay", "Ah rape yuh in yuh ar$e" and whatever else y'all say, don't you transcribe the homosexual identity onto yourselves? You stay make them "beyotches" so to speak, but at the same time you become their "daddies".

lemme get a round of applause for thrill seeker, it seems too many "MEN" and i use the term loosely are confused, unsure, or  doubtful of their masculinity or sexuality, why else would there be soo much fuss about "puttin the GAY in gamer" no matter how much someone may attack you verbally, if you are sure of your masculinity you don't have to worry about the opinions of others. None of my fellow Gamers feel threatened to any degree where their sexuality is concerned, neither am i, so is no biggy to me...

Well, its just what they say, its how the 'slang' has developed. I am in 5th from, and, listening to how the 6th fromers talk, to the 1st formers. Its totaly different, its just how they developed.

And secondly, I really could have sworn that how GATT had some sofisticated men, cause, considering calling somone 'gay' an insult, its a shame. I would have thought that you were above that.

Saying stuff like, "AH GO RAPE YUH, RUN!" while gunnin down a person in a game, that has NOTHING to do with there sexuality. Its just how slang has....well...evolved.
