Now to those that know, the CPU market is dominated by 1ntel, second is @MD the strong up and comer. However very few know of via as being a PC, CPU manufacturer. Now this is not the first time I have made a thread based on via chips and I know that there are more well known for chipsets. However below I will show a dual CPU @ 1GHz each server with 1 dimm slot, 1 IDE, 2 SATA and 4USB with on board video and 7 channel audio. Its SMALL, REALLY SMALL (as u can see as the dimm slot is almost the lenght of the board). This thing will use something of the order of 40W total (and thats an OVER estimate). I am not sure if its 64-bit as Via was developing a CPU of that type with SEE2/3 and other goodies. This board also support MPEG2/4 hardware encoding and decoding so that offloads work from the CPUs. Anyways enough with the sales pitch. These lil machine can work anywhere as they run EXTREMELY cool and are resilient to noise (electrical obviously) Ideal for idustrial applications. THey will make excellent media/file serves and the total cost of building such a machine would be about $700. Take a look, I will definitely be interesting in this when they start mass producing (esp since I bought parts from bushman to build a media server...) take a look:
