Hi

Firstly, I would like to apologise for not responding to some of the queries posted on the forum - however, we had some teething issues in March which was top priority for us to resolve. Thankfully, these issues are resolved and the outstanding matter to hand that we are dealing with as priority is the common issue with respect to P2P users and opening up ports again. We are in the process of doing this and getting very close to having a solution in place to have ports opened again and do apologise for the inconvenience. However, we have done our best to assist with our customers who have been affected by the change and opened up ports for specific customers who inform us of what they wish to do and what ports are needed to be opened. There are also some legal issues that have nearly been resolved that we have dealt with to ensure there are no legal implications with opening up P2P completely. Please bear with us and again this issue is top priority for us.

Secondly, a quick update on the status of the relationship we will be forming with the GATT users. Due to the teething issues in March, a large proportion of the testing that we wanted to do was put on hold. Currently, we want to wait for the P2P side of things to be rectified before we complete the testing and can offer the GATT members the deal that was discussed earlier. We don't want to rush into this and offer a deal that we cannot deliver or support as this will create a lot of negativity and bad dealings with the customers affected. So again, please bear with us - it will be looked at next week and hopefully by the end of next week, we will be able to formalise a relationship and officially offer the GATT members the deal incorporating Internet and a wide area network link to local gaming servers.

Finally, I have seen a few members mention that we cannot service their locations - if you could indicate where you are located and give me your name (you can email the details to me at kpatel@mail.tt), I can follow up with the status and give you an indication as to timelines to service the area. We do keep a list of all people and areas we cannot service so we can plan our expansions. Our expansion to Arima and South has also begun and should be completed by end of next week.

Please feel free to email me at kpatel@mail.tt if you require any further information

Thanks

Half life II is about 4 gigs off steam....
I'm very happy  to hear that  arima is finally hooked up for green dot's service .  My place might have some  line of sight issues , can anyone give me an idea as to what angle the dish has to see?
And i'd like to ask , what kind of  business services does green dot provide? will we be able to get a REAL T1 class connection ( 1.544mb/s)  off these satellites ?  and what about the upload speeds ? is it 256k down and 128k up?

Greendot provide both dsl type circuits for business customers and also dedicated circuits. The bandwidth really depends on what the customer is willing to pay as dedicated circuits are very expensive and only the corporate's sign up for this type of link. In this scenario T1 is no problem and upload speeds can be whatever is required as well.

The dsl type circuits are typically 128K/64 or 256K/64K, however depending on what the customers require, further packages can be and will be developed over the coming months.

Arima should be fully on stream this weekend (unless there are hiccups) and by Monday we will be in a position to begin installing and performing site surveys for customers. Please call 622 5700 and speak to sales or email us at sales@mail.tt with your specific details to get more detailed information.

i just got a call from green dot,   i should by installed by thursday night.

Locked ports isn't BAD....  if all your ports were unlocked , any hacker or worm will  fly right through, and this is a beta test after all, they'll fix the kinks out.
This is not nearly as bad as TSTT randomly blocking  ports and   screwing up DNS addresses  , or the entire DSL network in an area going down without any prior warning .

Blocked ports are bad...especially if I can't unblock them myself. I'm paying for a service...it's not being provided as I expect = bad. Fortunately, we've come to a compromise on that situation.

That's why there's personal firewalls...install, configure, breathe easy, talk done.

Beta testing done long time.

I've never experienced TSTT randomly blocking ports or screwing up DNS addresses. However, I have experienced outages, though not for long periods thankfully. I know the San Juan area went down the other day for quite a while...that had to suck...

To host the local game servers , won't we need a connection to the DSL network through tstt? else everyone on dsl will get 600 + pings... .and sweat buss for most of us.
We won't be using its bandwidth for the service, just to link up the  servers   , so they shouldn't charge us any extra charge ,  a T1 upload should suffice for all the servers we need :
Warcract III Bnet
Call of Duty
Halo
Quake III
Counterstrike
Warhammer/assorted RTS game
Battlefield 2 or some clone of it.....
maybe an FTP  server for 'filez' necassary to play the game :)

no need for ftp server.

qnext will take care of that.

file sharing for everyone. Not just techies. simple business.

The bandwidth to the tstt dsl network would be an excellent addition but cost prohibitive. As it stands, the plan included only greendot connected home users and the GLs.

People on DSL have good enough pings to play most anywhere on the planet anyway. It's the guys on satellite connections like greendot that will be dying for a low ping server to get their sweat on.

A trinidad WAN with gamers galore thanks to the GLs.

I spoke to them today and they said they gonna try again.

Also asked about that $1000 fee. It should be waived for everyone who was on the beta. That includes you.

Will let you know what comes of it.

Any game that will work on dial up will work on green dot, any game that is fast paced though is out of the question, you shouldl be able to download stuff great on Xbox live too. Though i warn you  , this is NOT for gaming , unless you play a turn based game you'll have a slight disadvantage in that there will be a delay between you and your opponents online  which will be about 1 second .
