Give Recommendations please.....

sup people, I was thinking about getting a better MB (to go with my
current processor) because my family pc back home is not workin(well
so my cousin said..(he not really d best pc tech...so i not sure...but
just in case) and upgrading my memory to 1 or 2 gb (pc3200, same series as i have at present), i just wanted some assistance or guide in purchasing or if i should leave as is for now...but memory for sure

PC Specs:
Amd Athlon XP 3000+; FSB 333mhz
COSAIR TWINX512-3200C2 [DUAL CHANNEL] 256MB X2 (512MB TOTAL)
ATI RADEON 9600 ALL-IN-WONDER
MSI KM4AM-L MOBO (didn't have a choice really)
120gb HDD MAXTOR DIAMONDMAX PLUS 9 SATA 120GB (150MB/s)

I would upgrade the RAM...go to 1GB...however, go to 1GB by virtue of 2x512MB preferably, and not 4x256MB...while the 4x256 will work in a dual channel setup, the timings will be slightly slower than that of a 2x512 setup...not that you might notice...but every lil frame per sec adds up

After the RAM, you might wanna consider moving up from the 9600...make the jump to a 6600GT or something...you won't be disappointed.

Everything else looks good to go for now...

Your system is very good as it is , keep it till the end of 2005, get an AMD dual core if they are 250 or less , and whatever new ATI/Nvidia 200 dollar card is out , with 1 Gb of RAM ...
   Or if we can get an AGP/PCI-E a64 board , get a 6600gt AGP and keep it when you get the A64

Asus a7n8x deluxe. great board. Dual channel memory, sata, firewire, gb lan, the works. under 100 us

5900xt or 9800pro bout 170 us up
or a  6600gt 220 us i think up

you have a good chip, memory and hdd. it will be able to play everything good with at least a 5900xt.

 5900xt is barely  50% faster than a 9600.... waste of money .

  a 6600gt would be  3-4 times as fast ..... its worth  the 220 US .
  a 9600 will handle all games for 2005  very well... and ATI is releasing newer cards soon anyhow  , SM3.0 ..

i doh work for dat much money you know only work part time... and with travellin expenses and internet bill i hadda take out like $140 from pay...then i saving so i hold back like $50.00 plus like $40.00 for emergencies

so dats like $230.00 a month..... i make like only twice that and get paid every 2 weeks...so it kinda hard for me....i doh think mb good to buy come to think of it......alot of new stuff soon to be released which means prices gonna drop right?

so i still saying just memory...that is one thing compatible right through...se i gonna upgrade to athlon 64fx soon or anything of that quality....so i wasn't really on mb that much.......

horse when yuh upgrading you upgrade with a purpose in mind, now everyone here assumes that you are upgrading just to play games

well it is for a lil more performance from the pc, for few games and temp for doing my graphic stuff (school assignments; till i buy a dumb a$$  Mac Notebook)

then just upgrade the memory for now as czar said 2 x 512 is better than 4 x 256. So you can sell  what you have and get 2 dual channel sticks. and corsair xms gone down. 1gig kit 2,2,2,5 for 250us or you can go slighty slower for less

Hey man don't slam the Apple, they make a good product. That aside, yeah lime with more memory, doh make sense spending more money on ole ting. Save and go A64.

trust me i eh like d mac...use dem daily, not nice....but i'm gonna have to get 1 if i doing graphics unfortuantely....but yea i'm upgrading memory for now...i may go generic though...funds kinda tight...plus i saving to come back TT for a bit
