I personally was not as supprised as the writer of this article since I know Mit$ubishi makes alot of electronics and chemical related products in addition to cars, but I guess NiS$an doing it was a shock check it out:

WE WERE INTERESTED to stumble across a new British consumer site which has several interesting products up for sale.
For example, we didn't realise that car manufacturer Nissan made DVD drives, but there's some DVD-DIVX players from the company there. These, the site says,will be available from the middle of the month here in the UK.
The DV100S not only has DiVX support, but also comes with a five in one card reader.

What next? MP3 players from Vauxhall? Solid gold hard drives from Rolls Royce? This convergence stuff seems to be moving along pretty fast.
