I have to agree with cereal, plus the A64's are the best native X86 64-bit processors on the market. And one more thing, I doh like having an oven in meh case... (Pr3scotts like having a lightbulb in yuh case a 100W lightbulb)

Every time the forums are redone some one comes up with this thread we have established the answer to this question already....

Intel is a good chip if u look at pure quality over quantity, intel is very expensive therefore the average gamer wouldnt like it.

AMD is a good bargin chip, because for those like me who arent rich we cn have pcs that run at near leet performance and recently with the introduction of the seprons we will be payin less for a great chip.

End of story jeez....

i will give 3 days to hear responses from other mods then i close thread

Prefer the athlon64; cheaper and faster, why? Due to the 64bit register(IA-64 architecture) ability to hold more integers than a typical IA-32 architecture which around 4 million then also the handling of more ram greater than 4gb which on the IA-32 architecture which can't be done without  using special techniques of hiding cerrtain segment of the ram from the cpu while using other 4gb, whiich is produce variable latency so now it's eliminate in the IA 64 arch. My word with Intergrated Memory Controller which literally pwned the intel IA -32 cpu set.

let me quote some number for u people. a 32 bit processor has 64 bit register therefore able to hold a value of 18446744073709551616 with 64 bit processor is has 128 bit registers so  3.4028236692093846346337460743177e+38 value can be done now with that much head room intel done know they have to move to 64 bit before natively coded 64 bit apps come out . native coded 64 bit apps don't need to use old 32 bit limits new 64 bit limit are the key :P
natively codec app suppose to rase performance 10-45%

*nods* i believe made a technical error with the cpu register, but yes mad figures imagine holding at leaste 1 terabyte of ram, with the IA-64.

Oh so wrong Sensei. Things have changed alot since then. Now the A64 owns all. It's not the bargain chip, it's the best chip for gaming. The only true advantage Intel has is in tests that use the extra Mhz but even those aren't far apart. A 64-bit CPU will be ready for 64-bit Windows. Intel is cancelling entire series of chips in order to catch up.
See scar you comparing at the highest level what about people who dont have the money to purchase a A64???

And can only afford Athlons XP or Sempron, and not Intel loerend P4s?
I speakin at my class level, a class or being poor lol  :D

16 bit cpu had 32 bit register . 32 bit computer have 64 bit register . 64 bit cpu has 128 bit register. this is becuase of the fact the alu is requier to multiply two 32 bit number and store values in register therefore register size it twice bit count on cpus . not  sure about gpu architetue but i think it is same principal a 512 bit gpu should have 1024 registers

weird eh first the gfx threa now this. oh well. same story. use to use Amd till i could actually afford intel. never looked back. not saying that amd eh bad good bang for yuh buck. just love intel. probably a minority but in all things i eh rushing 64bit yet because by the time longhorn is out  things on the CPU might be different.
i always refer to the early ghz race where like now amd had the lead over intel who still had there 900s but the leap to p4 not only surpassed amd but forced them to change chipwise and hype wise. ill just wait. if nothing changes well i wouldnt have lost a thing.

i just really love my athlon 64 3000 .....i finally got the windows 64bit edition ...yeah.............and i agree athlon 64 all the way ...i believe it cost me about $14XX for the 3000 A64 retail box ....with stock cooling i have never crossed 47 or 48 degrees (except when changing the voltage on the cpu and fsb)

I prefer the Intel brand but due to the price difference in equilivant performance chips I would quicker buy an AMD
