But that's not what the topic is about...it's about the Athlon64 being the "best" performing processor for Doom 3. The article that I quoted it from also gives peeps some insight on possible processor upgrade options.
The on-die memory controller helps the A64 tons...no need for gobs of L2 & L3 cache to boost the framerate as is evident on the Intel side of things (the P4 processors with larger caches outperformed similarly clocked P4's with less cache by relatively significant margins).
