I bought the collectors edition Transformers animated movie

They actually killed Optimus because they wanted to discontinue the old Transformers line and use this as a jumpoff for the new line...However they failed to realize that Optimus was such an icon

imo Rodimus Prime just win tho. Wikipedia quote "Hot rod has been shown to have numerous powers. so far he has displayed the ability to shoot very powerful lasers out of his forearms, and feet, fly at mach speeds easily, shoot lasers from his eyes, and let out missiles out of his hands. he has also displayed some very interesting powers as well. he has been able to re-change his shape, into many different forms such as a t-rex, elephant, and wall, and still be able to use his laser abilities in these forms, he has been able to create, and control fire, and also he has been shown to create very powerful force-fields, and control electro-manetic fields. IT HAS BEEN SUSPECTED THAT HE IS ONE OF THE MOST POWERFUL TRANSFORMERS EVER."

Megatron is still in jet form because when he crashed and froze he didnt have a chance to mimic any object or transform into anything. He is still in his "old" form on cybertron. Also something to mention they were experimenting on him for quite a while. If you looked you will see the wings a outlined but not filled, meaning they could have taken parts out of him here and there when doing experiments over the past few decades.

Ok, since most people already say it, it probably safe for me to say it too ... Starscream is a boss. I eh see any of the others get on as bad. Megatron was ok as well. Optimus Prime's first transformation was something to behold, though (especially in IMAX).

Yeah. I pretty much suspect that that statement's pretty much one of (ahem) THE MOST BOGUS PIECES OF INFORMATION EVER.

Absolutely nowhere in the entire Transformers storyline does Rodimus ever display the ability to change in a bunch of animals and some of the other stuff that was claimed there. As a matter of fact, as I recall, that information came from a time when Rodimus' Wikipedia article was vandalised, and people were putting a bunch of nonsensical facts about Rodimus. I swear, when you guys check out things, so you make sure and double-check it to ensure that what you're being told is fact? Even Wikipedia I have to take with a grain of salt because it can be edited by anyone.

Rant aside, I find Hot Rod a much more interesting character than Rodimus. Rodimus is what Scavenger would describe as an 'uncharismatic bore', and I find his character very stiff and lame. He doesn't even have half the personality that Optimus and even his old self had. Why do you think they brought back Optimus? Because Hasbro knew that Rodimus would NEVER amount to what Optimus was. Ever watched the original series in Season 3 and 4? I was practically waiting for the show to bring back Hot Rod. I thoroughly hated Rodimus. Imagine how much I leapt allll over the place like a Gummi Bear on crack when Hot Rod did return, albeit for a second, in "The Return of Optimus Prime".

Now, with regards to the movie, I haven't seen it as yet, but I hear it's a blast.
I'll have to get paid first, though, which ticks me off because I haven't seen money since May.

Rodimus was pretty much a bore, even in headmasters, still doubting himself and operating in the shadow of optimus prime, even when optimus had drained the matrix of all its wisdom and was unable to develop plans as quickly as before he was still 10x better than rodimus prime.

Rodimus was cool for about 20 secs...the 20 secs after Optimus said "arise rodimus prime" and the first transformation.

To me, what Rodimus should have been was what Cyclops turned into in the 'Eve of Destruction' arc in X-Men- a hardened badass. He'd still have the impulsiveness of Hot Rod and kick your behind if he sees fit, but he'd play it smart at the same time as well and really f**k over people's minds. THAT'S what he should be like.

The movie was great. Found many little faults but it was such a boss movie that they aren't even worth mentioning, save for one.

The whole "why are we saving the humans speech"

That was not necessary since the autobots came to earth to get the "all spark" to either a) rebuild their world or b) stop megatron from becoming all powerful and running the galaxy.

That's reason enough. The humans need not have existed on planet earth at all and were inconsequential to their goal.

other than that, awesome awesome movie. 10/10.

errmmm

I went in there with really high expectations, but Ill be lying if I said it was REAL REAL good or rocketh mucheth  or anything.

Its definitely one of the best of the year, but it really left me wanting more at the end.

it really had awesome CGI, and cool fight scenes (when i could make it out) and then there was the awe of seeing prime in real life.....but still i felt like more could have been there to flesh out the story that was being told.

that and characteristic Michael Bay with his 'unique' style of storytelling while cool mostly, was really annoying at times, not often, but it was there.

anyways all in all wayyy cool entertaining movie, but I really think a little more could have been done.

Could have been too much hype....hype of you dunno what....but too much. Happened with me with Spiderman, happens all the time, especially by reading this thread before the show. Agree with laertes, dont watch nuttin but the trailer, not the qq, not the pew pew...nothing. Go in and watch it yourself and then decide. People get ALL hyped by rave reviews and then go.....wait.  Thats why i thought the first Spiderman sucked. Took a month to come to trini, when it came it was so hyped in the US. I saw it and was like.....meh. Spiderman 2 opened on time, and that one i was omg with.

Honestly ive watched this movie 4 times...and for some reason i cant fast forward any scenes...even the dialogue :P But i saw it release day :P

Spoke to some people here .....the "omg it SUCKED" people. They dont know why it sucked......you ask them "i dunno, i just didnt like it".....no good enough
"why i cant have an opinion and just say i didnt like it?"
No not really, you should have some kinda reason other than "i dunno dawg i just didnt feel it yo..."......yea.......nice :P

The people that came out with "it was a disgrace to what i knew Transformers were" and "how can Bay screw up this movie?".....honestly i think they are trolls or just crave attention. I also notice their mouth very quiet after you ask them about the final battle in the city. I mean sh!t man, every single friggin transformer come out to fight, and they WELL fight.

I can understand the "it was cool" people. Again it could be hype.  You walkin expecting. But again what were you expecting? I dont think ppl have much of an explanation appart from a disjointed "Starscream shoulda......Megatron shoulda...." Shoulda woulda coulda. Transformers is THE geekout movie of the summer. the "family stone" people and "sicko" people need not apply, and for good reason......you got your sh!t, this is ours.

Story was pretty generic.......as a Transformer story is. Good vs Evil, typical....things just move along and then we get back to cool animation and action. Its an action movie of course. Not enough Starscream some say.....well how you think people like Starscream so much? He isnt on much, but when he on......he ON.
"PATHETIC FOOLS! THERES NO ESCAPE"
Man i even like the voice they get for him
"I live to serve you Lord Megatron"

To tell the truth I walked in the theater with really low expectations for the film, you know i mean how could a childhood cartoon turned into a new movie be any good? but damn was i wrong.  The damn Movie really blew me the hell away, from the start until the very end, it just exceeded everything I was thinking the movie was going to be.  From that scene that damn cop car (think name was barricade) came up the movie took off for me and i enjoyed every part of it.  The comedy wasn't bad either  that was something i didn't expect at all and normally you'd expect cheesy comedy but what they had in there had the whole cinema laughing .  Just seeing this movie on the big screen where you can really get a feel on how huge they are and the surround sound in the theater really made this movie a one of a kind experience and right now it has to be one of my fav action movies in a long time.
