Actually Netcape is based on Mozilla's engine (Gecko) and Firefox is
supposed to be the browser only bit of the Mozilla but they diverged abit so
its somewhat different (Mozilla is a suite) and Thunderbird is the
standalone email client.

Mozilla is based on netscape's engine, it has a lot of other stuff
integrated into it like an irc client/email client etc etc
Firefox was a project to just make a browser and make it well, they started
with mozilla and changed it so much that they want to say it's not like
mozilla anymore
Thunderbird is an email client, not a browser.
