Valve has taken the path of Intel and Amd .. AND STABBED US IN THE BACK!! we wil have to PAY for most of the new goodies on STEAM EVEN after we buy Half Life 2 ... CS 2 is not free, Dod 2 is not free, HL 1 on the new engine is not free!!! this is EVIL!!

but they look kewl on the new engine

Steam is a pack of crap.... i rather just use non steam servers

First off takes a long time to download stuff... even with dsl

And then is real stress to setup

In my opinion yuh should just save and buy the game original...that way yuh could play it the same year it come out

actually steam downloads things 2-3 times faster than anything else.. though it updates each game almost weekly...

all STEAM versions of HALF LIFE have 32 bit colour , less bugs and higher supported resolutions because of those annoying updates...

Steam only downloads things faster because you at a contant download speed

Normally 16k on new dsl users and 8-6k on dial up users

Or yea the updates can be downloaded manually...just have to look for them

i get around 80 kilo bits per second average and i can spike to around 160. thats 10 kilobytes/20kilobyters on DIAL up... i downloaded more than 1 GB of games in a little more than 24 hours. It compresses the data in order to save bandwidth ... but it can take up alot of resources sometimes with a PIII
