If ya'll haven't figured it out yet...or heard it from someone who knows me...I'm a troublemaker...but in the good sense.
I'll fight for you because I am rebellious by nature..hence MaxX Has got to be a Mercenary(Hire Gun by [X] )....lol

Even if I could get in there ( never went so I don't know) I would have made a stink about this just for doing it. Because it just should not happen. I may not go..but I have Brothers and Sisters, Nieces, Cousins..Friends that are like Family and Friends. That go to school with the offspring of these same people. And they are friends with their kids...So I don't want anybody for me hanging out with their friends and be accidentally or purposefully.... embarrassed in front of their friends and the public at large because their friends fathers or mothers or uncles or aunts or whatever practice Discrimination, Racism or have some Prejudice. Worse than hurting or embarrassing me...is to do it to my Family. There will be no forgiveness there.

So unlike you Kayode...I can't wait for it to be a Big thing... before I speak out....And I am very noted for Speaking My Piece. And if you don't speak ya piece now yeah it just might reach to that " jobs and homes, Getting trouble to drive somewhere or buy groceries Can't send your child to a certain school"

" If I kick you in the nuts now...you will remember the next time it comes around that you about to do something stupid " that's my philosophy (hey KRSONE My Philosophy...heheheh)
Ya see I believe that my family (the lil ones ) should not have to experience that. I don't want my kids to experience that. At Least not in Trinidad. Not Here. Not While I live here. Not while we still a Cosmopolitan, Democratic, Independent, Sovereign, Republic.

Because incase you didn't notice...The Negro and Indian Population make up the Majority of the nation...like about 80+% from the last set of census. And Caucs. (whites...by their Trini stds) share the remaining 20% with all the others that are not darker than peanut butter.
Now this seem to remind me of Slavery Days...where the Minority rules the Majority. Because is always the Blacks and the Indians that can't get in.

Brudda that shit en goin sling here.
This is my country and I Go where ever the F&*K  I want as long as it aint Trespassing. And no Bitch is going to tell me otherwise.
As long as it is open to the public I have a right to it. If there is a Fee and I can pay the fee then I decide whether I want to go in or not.

And your statements are selfish....because you don't party or you don't drink at Woodford Cafe...it's not your problem? As long as they don't block your gate you good?
Well Kayode....if they block your gate and was acting a fool and I was there.. I would help you brudda...because they are wrong.
I party and for the others like me who party and Lime including my cousins, nieces, friends ( for us..not for them )...I will fight for them too. Why? Because like you said. "Dread, this is nonsense. Trivial. Fundamentally wrong ". So I will fight it down so that my siblings when they grow up and go out don't have to go through it

And if we don't stop it now Kayode...then your family and my family will not be friends.....why?

My family have a bunch of red skinned and Trini white types. Some of the kids in my family attend the Preppy schools and the pay schools and reside in other countries and speak other languages.
If my family could go somewhere yours cannot aren't you eventually gonna resent us for this? Aren't we gonna get different friends after a while..because of this?

Look at it another way...

if all of my cousins get together and decide to go somewhere and some could get in and some can't .....how the f*&k are they gonna feel? You think they will look upon each other equally after that? It's a permanent stamp on you psyche.

And so the separation is passed unto another generation. Fair Skinned on one side Dark on the other. Rich Kids on one side Poor on the other. Some of my cousins on one side and some on the other.......

Dread, this is nonsense. Trivial. Fundamentally wrong, but not a scene I prepared to fight down.

When people are discriminated for jobs and homes, that is serious business. Getting trouble to drive somewhere or buy groceries? We have to deal with that. Can't send your child to a certain school? We can't have that. These things are necessities and in the public domain.

Getting braced from some snob club? Get yuh priorities in order. We have much more basic matters of discrimination to deal with.

And it's a club, so they can always exploit the"Private", "Members Only" and "Management Reserves The Right" loophole.

Don't fight down what isn't yours. Don't struggle to get in where you don't belong.

Yuh feel I doh know about this kinda ting? I livin a block away from Woodford Cafe. Them idiots does be watchin me funny as I walkin down MY street to go into MY house, and then when they realise de scene they apologising because THEIR car park up in front of MY gate.

Them doh fight dong we scenes...why we must fight dong theirs? We just makin weself look like ass by puttin them on a pedestal.

Yuh know why? Status business. Vanity. Buying drinks yuh can't afford, liming in a crowd that doh want yuh, all to feel like yuh important. Bun that.

Tuh hell with them man. I have a lime ten times badder than they lime could ever be, and I know when I walk into my lime in any GATT GL, almost everybody does be happy to see me. That is my lime. Left them with theirs.

I brush this business off brother. I walkin on a higher path.

Breds...I now seeing this email so I apologise for the late reply.

And if you want to pick and choose what should rile you up that is your business..and I think that I more than stated in the email. If you think it's trivial that is you....for others we incorporate more in our lives and yeah...trivial things will affect us. Me personally I will tell you I consider friendships on little aspects...not a F...ing World War.
That is how I know who have my back when shit goes down.

Why don't you come here on a sitting day....seeing that you think so much great things happen here...and you will see how your leaders take serious issues and trivialize it waste tax-payers money and waste people MC time. Come and listen to shit that should take 10minutes of positive contributions gets dragged to 10 hours because of irrelavance and trivialization and then we can dicuss trivial issuses

And to me.....you seem to be of the belief....that only if you say it ever makes sense.....news flash...just like mine....it's only your mc opinion. Not F...ing scripture

I am glad Johnny boy took this opportunity to get in contact with you if he did. I am glad it was explained...look at the "small" picture here...if nobody didn't talk about it..it would not have reached back to them, 51degrees to deal with it.

Baego yes, it is the same person.

You know what...I apologize for bringing this to the list...I apologize for emailing any of you this.
I hope that this is the very last of it....
It is a Trivial matter and should be dealt with in the said manner.
My humblest apologies....I assure you it will never happen again.

Just wanted to point it out. A nightclub is a trivial place. This is a trivial issue. Triviality breeds triviality.

Take a look at the bigger picture. Especially there in the Red House where you work. There's more important stuff to get riled up and take action for.

Also, yuh talk real nonsense all throughout that e-mail, but is best we continue that conversation off the list.

    The Response
    =============
    Date: 09-June-2004
    From: Jonathan Paty, 51°

As a shareholder, i will give you my personal account of this scenario.

The young lady was refused entry because the lounge was full and was
asked to wait until it was safe for her and her party to enter. A group
who had a VIP room booked passed her at the door and got in.

For the record, there are people who enter the lounge freely, when they
book a VIP area or are on our guest list depending on the capacity. She
is aware of our policy at the door of allowing VIP persons preffered
entry because the week before I personally let her and her party of four
in the lounge, where she walked past a large crowd at the door and got
    in for free.

She somehow did'nt mention that she got preferential treatment the week
before, and what about those people she passed by at the door then??

This has been our policy since we have opened.

It should also be noted that this person who i know for close to 10
years now, went on the radio to say that i am not her friend, even
though i presonally gave her and her party free access the week before.

These people that passed her were from one of these VIP groups who do
get easier access because they have made prior arrangements for the VIP
    areas.

Additionally and most importantly...some of her group were "white", so
it is not a racial issue as she is making it out to be. She has failed
    to mention this.

It is a shame that one week you get preferential treatment then the next
week you are not, and you decide to circulate this negative information.

Non the less we have written to her an apology for the miscommunication
at the door which she has rejected and said is unacceptable) and invited
    her to attend again.

We have however learned something from this incident, we have now posted
our door policy at the door and intend to advertise our policy so people
    are made aware.

Additionally, FYI 51° is a lounge not a club and it provides an avenue
for young entertainers to showcase their talent to anyone. there is
karioke, a jazz night, comedy night. we endeavor to support local
talent and ventures, and to that end we have hosted the launch of both
gayelle and synergy TV, amongst others.

    Everyone is welcome.

    Regards
    Jonathan Paty, 51°

I feel I have to deal with this piece by piece else I might get carried away.

That's my whole point Maxx. Serious life and death business getting trivialized right where you work, and yuh not getting riled up over it. Some bacchanal between two bachanalists in some nightclub and yuh want story in papers fuh that?
I remember saying IF it was me I would make a stink about it. My  thread is at the bottom of this page. This was under the premise that the story was true.
Even though...had this been some place else and this issue came to a public forum. It would have undergone some investigations into whether it was true or not. Hence I would not expect a news paper to run something like that and not investigate it...
--but--
then again this is Trinidad and because it is "trivial" we know nothing about Investigative Journalism ...we call it trivial and move on.

I do get riled up for stuff that happen here.. at work...Unfortunately you are not here so you obviously don't know.
I will open state my opinion on anything it's my opinion...the worse that could happen?? somebody shoots me for my opinion. And actually being here has thought me allot of thinks that people on the outside are not privy to. When you look at the news and you see the extremely dramatic parts of Parliament you see only and inkling of what they do here. You sit here long enough and listen to them and watch there behavior and see them after when the cameras not on them and you want to jump down in there and start sharing lix. Buss up people head.

The point is I wish more people will get riled up...for every mc thing..don't f,,,kin pick and choose..force it to be a better place because you will get riled up if shit like this happens.

What "friendship" and "the little things in life" have to do with that? Yuh feel I saying that all the little things in life trivial? I said that a NIGHTCLUB is a trivial place. Or a lounge or whatever they want to call it. Trivial from the time yuh hit the entrance where bouncers arbitrarily picking and choosing who they want to let in. Trivial when drinks just raising and lowering for no reason. Trivial "VIP" lounge. Trivial scenes. A big sign on the outside proclaiming management reserves the right. Joky business. Yuh could never find any consistency getting in or when yuh actually inside.
Some of us like the triviality of a nightclub and night life...some people thing a GL is trivial the same way. because you don't drink and you don't lime whatever happens there is not your concern??? like I said " if you don't say it..it don't make sense"
And it is this very type of thinking no matter how bright ya think ya is man..that is backward.
Almost every..nah.....every public entertainment place that I know of Lounge Restaurant Cinema Club even some mc bars on the road have a sign like that "Management reserves the Right" So why da F.. do you go to any of these places then?
Friendship......seeing that you missed it....It is little things people do....measures friendships.

Personally if it was me who had get so rile up and then see that e-mail, I woulda be embarassed...real flickin embarassed. Too embarassed to even go back in that club. That woman make an ass out of all of alyuh. Flick...she even makin an ass out of me right now, makin me waste time writing about her.
Well guess what we got riled up and the otherside of the story came out. Why should we feel embarrassed...I for one am not embarrassed. I am glad. If this side is the truth then Mrs. Beckles should feel like and ass...but the rest of us should feel pretty good that we lifted our voice and we were heard.

Just for your edification fine sir...what you find "trivial" such as this night club incident, these very issues and their principles are often discussed vehemently right here where I work.

I invite you to come visit...especially this week. Police Reform Bill is being debated...very very serious bill that affects the country as a whole..come and hear for yourself how things are TRIVIALIZED.

You are not the only person whose sent me that e-mail. And I've seen modified versions of it on forums as well. It come like a chain mail now...and guess who bitin de chain.

        The Response
        =============

          Pure F...kery

Come on Kayode...the last person I expected to hear say that is u....hmmm at the same time..... I kinda expected the first person to be you too....go figure...hehehe.

              anyway
You was one of the first persons I though of telling this before I sent it to the mailing list. Besides the fact that you will still have ya old Express connection to help the lamblazing of the spot...I hold you in great regard as a major proponent of equality, justice and fairness.

even if it don't happen to me directly I think is shit
I will confess to you now that I also sent to a news reporter. Let's see what she does with it. In fact I will send it to a few more tommorrow. (Don't have my media email list at home). Let's see if they investigate it and start kickin some teeth in.
