i want to know:
how the former minister of security qualifies to be the minister of Tourism?
How does the minister of Telecommunications qualify if he don't know nothing about telecomms?
How does this new minister qualify?

We don't NEED all these ministers anyhow! all they really do is submit reports, propose bills and feel important.

why do we have to pull strings to find this out? this government has been preaching "transparency" for a long time.. its time for THEM to be transparent... or buy us all Acrylic cases!

Sigh.  Civics, anyone?

Ministers are selected, in theory to be the public face of government policy in a certain area.  In practical terms, the Prime Minister will select people who will not be a threat to his position, and people that he believes that he can work with.
Chin Lee actually has some training in the entertainment industry.  The problems of National Security are bigger than any minister, government or political party.
The problem with telecomms is that NOBODY in public life is that knowledgeable about Telecomms.

The executive branch of the government believes that the large number of Ministers are important.

We have the Freedom of Information Act for transparency.  Learn it and use it.

let me get this straight..... the prime minister  chooses ministers based not on their ability.. but how submissive to his influence they are? No wonder this country sux! ....
I saw we overthrow the government and install the ELECTRONIC government! Everyone who is fairly intelligent and has a broad knowledge of stuff will get the choice of voting for EVERY bill that is passed.. all the ministers are allowed to do  is propose bills, and give reports, that way there will be less need for ministers.... no blocking of bills in parliment because the opposition feels bitchy and/or certain members are payed off
. Power to the [smarter] People!

Hey man, are you a conversation starter or a controversy starter? lolz... politics is not as simple as it may seem nah -- it have a whole study devoted to that -- a science.

Why worry about politicians? they making the money they wanna make -- some even taking more than they earn. let me tell you something -- politicians dont run things, WE run things. We put them in power, we pay taxes etc...

You wanna see change? You wanna make a difference? START DOING SOMETHING ... po ejemplo -- as a developer, my vision for pulling T&T out of this 3rd world slump is to bring awarness from the web. i plan to make all my clients websites such that it would bring the trini populace up to speed with certain things as well as show the world that trini is on the map. I salute tidco for their recent works, the DVD that they made is really something as well as the biz card CDs they are distributing to foreign investors.

you want change, start with a vision -- and if you cant do it, speak to someone who can.

im surprised TRINI is part of your name and u boast that trini sucks... :(

Trinidad rox... no racial cleansing, no terrorist cells bombing the place, nice weather most of the time, scenery ... but the level of development in this country sux...

look at barbados! or Guyana!.. Cuba! they have a fraction of the natural resources we have.. but look at what they have DONE with it! The government in Barbados is scheming to improve the COUNTRY , not themselves... they are risking their political status in order to STEAL our resources! thats what i call DEVOTION... so many of our ministers were corrupt , and the ones that aren't are worthless puppets of whoever or whatever is behind the party.. The OIL companies did more than half of our infrustructure!
The roads the AMERICANS built  DECADES ago last longer than ours... Our government is getting all this money from taxes, from TSTT [ 51% of profits! an unnanounced tax! ] and doing nothing worthwhile with it! the aluminum smelter is a good idea but it will benifit us  ONLY IF it does not cause any major pollution AND we set up other industries to use some of that aluminum...
The government is also too weak to properly control the nation... why is the Jamaat still on OUR land after what they did? Why has TSTT not lowered its prices after it was ordered to do so? the government is all bark and no bite [ or brains ] .
I hope you DO succedd with that... but many trinis are so small minded and will not accept what they do not know as.. POSSIBLY better... too many of us have no initiative... no drive.. all they know is what they learnt in school and will not try to expand on that... and when somebody makes a suggestion that they do not understand.. they shoot it down before listening to all points of view and trying to understand.

true guyana has bauxite gold n stuff... cuba has some gold and a little oil...

Barbados has nothing but TOURISM and they are YEARS more advanced than us.. there is alot less crime... the poverty  is not as bad as it is here.

the governments here just suck... either madly corrupt, or hugely retarded. They claim to be "accelerating " our development when they shield TSTT from the rest of the world for some reason.... All they have done so far is to get lots of plants built... when barely anyone in trinidad can get a job in those plants.
They keep ignoring some of the big problems in society that are CAUSING the crime... lax police officors , not enough police , corruption in the police service.

Why is it that the government KNOWS that the jammaat is involved in the crime and drug trade... yet they do nothing? why is it that anyone in trinidad can name half of the big drug lords, yet nothing is being done about them?
Either the government is getting payed to act retarded, or they ARE retarded.... what is IN that water they serve to them? lead?

Everybody know who causing all the crime,I ain't gonna say they name out loud but you know who I'm talking about.
When we reach a state where negotiations with criminals is a standard thing, where criminals run for political office on a respected party's ticket, you really expect anything good.

We have to be the only country in the world that give people two years in jail for high treason.Know some other people that got out of jail after attempting to overthrow the government?Fomrer Iraqi President Saddam Hussein and the Fuhrer of the Third Reicht himself,Adolf Hitler.

This country goin' to hell.I does be amazed when I hear people criticizing living conditions and morality and all that nonesense in the US when we so far below them.
Use the blasted army.Declare a limited state of martial law in selected areas and clean them out totally.
