So a partner of mine (originally a dedicated pc gamer with a very decent rig) spent 6 hours playing on a ps4 and has decided to sell his pc and go all out PS4.

Says the ability to get into multiplayer games flawlessly, the visuals (which seem almost equal to his gaming pc in his eye) and the just sheer fun he had with the console made the choice for him.

he spent time with Battlefield 4, Killzone and some others.

Couldn't believe what I was hearing. Curious to get some feedback from other early adopters.

Clearly his PC wasn't that good in the first place

that machine is superbly spec'd zerk.

Honestly, this is what I was anxious to see...whether the gap would be closed sufficiently for the nextgen consoles to fully supplant average gaming PCs.

Your pardners rig is even beyond average. So if he could make the switch, the answer to my question is YES.

gg no re

Is he a trini? I get the impression that he isn't.

I think he 'bonx' he head dey yes.  :laughing7:

That PC is light years ahead of the PS4 already, hardware-wise...with scope for upgrades.

Tell your 'pardner' he is INSANE...and probably needs his head/eyes examined.

not at all....there are many gamers (some right on this very forum) that gave up PC gaming for the LAST gen consoles. PS3 and Xbox 360.

Two systems which were thoroughly outmatched and outgunned by any typical gaming PC.

You will be surprised what some people are willing to tolerate in the name of convenience and simplicity.

The performance gap is now a lot smaller and the compromise (in terms of graphics) considerably less than before. (See this Killzone HD video http://blog.us.playstation.com/2013/11/04/killzone-shadow-fall-ultra-high-bitrate-multiplayer-footage/ )

Can't wait to get my hands on one myself to see first hand.

nah he isn't trini, has owned every console in existence. but PS4 seems like his flick for now. Wasn't about the power of the system but more so the experience, but he did complain that BF4 on pc was getting him frustrated and ps4 version was flawless.

to each their own oui.

Well said zerk.

I can totally relate and fully understand his position.

The issues with BF4 on PC felt like the hardest slap to face ever since my involvement in gaming (25 years plus)

Such an epic game and experience being marred by technical issues. Justifying the console gamers in their position.

Some Glorious Master Race we are turning out to be.

A lot of the issues have already been fixed.

So...he abandons the PC over ONE (or two) games?
I think he was just looking for an excuse to quit the PC scene altogether.  He has bigger problems than Battlefield 4.

For his sake I hope he gets a working PS4, because things not looking so rosy right now.

Is not just any pc game. Is Battlefield. That is the system seller.

That is the justification for a us $2000 gaming rig.

Not plants vs.zombies. or Dota 2.

If the greatest of the great could be so problematic on PC...how can we objectively blame any gamer from turning their back on mount olympus

Just as sony's launch issues were unacceptable. ...so too was Battlefield's issue laden debut. Enough to warrant abandoning the platform. Twice bitten thrice shy

This will be my first post in months, but this discussion is too ignorant of facts for me to just stay quiet.

@ Berzerk's friend...
A PC gamer is more than someone who owns a gaming grade PC. It is someone who is capable of utilizing the inherent advantages of a PC; i.e. tweaking a game that was made for thousands of configurations for your particular rig, and squeezing out every bit of advantage to your liking. For example, if you like AA that doesn't blur textures, there are things for that, if you like 120Hz gaming there are things for that. If you like color correction, blah blah blah... the list goes on.

The same goes for solving issues however, it's a simple case of going online, finding solutions, or just having some god-damned patience!

I will be getting a PS4, XB1 and Wii U, all in time. But I will never leave PC gaming, because i understand it's usefulness and continuous relevance.

guy isnt really a 'noob' in any form or fashion, but he was impressed by the ps4 as a gaming experience. Maybe he just tired of hunching over a keyboard and mouse and feels to just have a more couch based simpler experience. he ain't no spring chicken either, wife and kids the whole shabang.

Different strokes as I said before, pc gaming may be the best ( for us at least) but it isn't for everyone.

Ok, time for me to jump in.

First and for most I tackling Mr Trini Wyatt :laughing7:
I own one of the best gaming PCs on GATT, and I ain't buy no darn B4, I wouldn't consider it the holy grail of PC gaming. Crisis Anyone? (d'oh beat meh arc :laughing7:) Because of its graphical prowess it was touted by techies as the holy grail of PC gaming. It wasn't. And I not saying B4 is any crisis, obviously the installbase is way higher than Crisis. But still, there are tons of Other epic PC games that allows the platform to shine. One game out of many having issues ain't no real dent in PC, and like arc said, issues been sorted already. B3 pissed me off because of technical issues, and because of that I skip B4, but that by no means says, abandon Pc for console lol.

Now to address berserk friend and the general conversation..

It have men, that claim SD content was no different in their eyes to HD content.
It have men that claim Blu-ray content in their eyes is no different to HD content.
It have men that will find ps3 and ps4 graphics no different.
It have men, on this very same forums, and on an official GATT staff meeting, who claim, HD audio is a "rip off" :laughing7:

All that to say, some men just lamers lolol. And such men belong on Consoles. Or belong listening to crap MP3s on crappy headphones/speakers.
The PC master race don't need them :laughing7:

Man get caught up in hype and new. But if he is a true pc gamer, the novelty of the PS4 will quickly wear off. But from the sounds of it, he belongs in the demographic of the console gamer. That don't mean PC gamers going to be flocking in droves to console. That's 1 guy. And as u can see by the unified voice of the PC gaming crew on GATT, We ain't doing that.

If their were no console exclusives, a console would never see me.

Now combine my comments with everything all d rest of PC gods, cough, ah mean ambassadors said :laughing7:

Clearly, within the PC master race we need sub races.

The PC defaulter:

This pleb uses an ordinary PC with integrated graphics to game because he cannot afford a console. Basically, a PC gamer not by choice and will defect the minute he gets his filthy, newly evolved opposable thumbs on a console's joystick. Will usually see PC gaming as a 'step down' from consoles because the power he has can only run Plants vs Zombies and Super meat Boy. The views of this noob are quite inconsequential.

The advanced pleb.

This person is one Messiah described. Games on a decent PC but does so by accident. Can't tell the difference between 1024x768 and 1440p. To this noob, everything looks the same. 10fps is considered playable and are also likely to find consoles 'on the same level' of the PC in terms of power and experience. These are the worst of them all.

True master race

Fully aware that all consoles and their users are ripe for destruction in the hot fiery pits of an erupting volcano. Will not even dignify the existence of consoles by even using them as a paper weights or door stops. These glorious specimens are the true heroes. They should be revered incessantly.

I d'oh understand all the beat up for one man who plays games how they prefer. Never believed in labels and never will preference is preference, trying to pin a status on someone to highlight your own as better is overcompensating for something.

Nah berserk, is all in the name of picoing, nobody actually looking down on anybody as inferior (I hope not).

@ Awesome.....

@ Advanced Pleb:

Take win, the words advance pleb by itself make me nearly fall off meh chair.

And based on your description of the True master race, many don't fit there, because there are many who would still use a console for the exclusives they provide. So we missing something below the true master race then? The Demi-gods of the master race? Part human, part god.? :laughing7:
