Dan i know CoD since it had health packs and no regeneration and you tellin me bout credibility?Gameplay and style change, to you maybe. As far as i see the series had some subtle adjustments. Treyarch games feel more fluid while IW CoD have a messy feel to it.Most likely because x amount of releases later and IW spawns all over.

Anyway the thread name is titanfall leh we hope off cod.

I read an article that said there would be no local titanfall servers in Australia @ launch.

Gamers over there were concerned about poor latency and by extension performance if they have to connect to servers located outside of the country to play.

It is a very valid issue.

One that Trinis are all too familiar with.

So it appears that TitanFall will not be following the traditional dedicated server route. That is, the established network of ISPs and server providers will not be used.

Instead, the back end will be powered by a Microsoft solution and details have been scant on where exactly those nodes are sitting.

If Australia is getting left out....chances will be extremely slim for a Caribbean node.

Now I really want to test the Alpha/Beta, to see what pings are going to look like to their cloud servers from our region.

The cloud solution they referring to is MS Azure , so research that to see what it's reach is. MS migrated Skype to Azure recently, and the entire Xbox Live Cloud network suppose to be on that. Any games utilized the Xbox live cloud (Titanfall for Xbox One and PC) will be accessing that network.

no need to research as we have a Microsoft Azure account!

Just checked the regions we can create servers and yes, Australia is missing...as well as the Caribbean.

Well go see how it goes, pressure, but, if that's the case.... KI is using that same thing, and I've played international flawlessly. It works brilliant, so I wouldn't be worried. And lag in a fighting game, even minute, is very noticeable and messes up combos. And maybe 1 in 10 games mite have slight lag.

Well you're not in Trinidad so we will need to do some further tests to confirm what sort of latency you get to Azure servers.

I just did a test to a US East server, got 96ms (typical)

Will send you the info to do a test yourself so we can compare.

Either way, it looks like we will be in the same old monkey pants for TitanFall.

That is, at a huge disadvantage against our US opponents who will be on sub 50ms pings. Their latency will be literally, twice as fast as ours.

Price of living in "paradise".

Will ask Microsoft what would be the odds of getting local servers.

Seeing as Australia is being left out, it doesn't look promising. lol

@ firekyler....games that allow local host and lan play offer "Caribbean" servers.

When a person is playing Call of Duty on his xbox he is effectively hosting the game locally for all other players.

When we run Team Fortress 2 servers, again, hosted locally.

It is only in very recent times that dedicated servers got controlled by corporations for big games like CoD and Battlefield on the PC.

We have been actively lobbying to have even those hosted in the region. A lot of progress has been made.

It plays alright but you are at a disadvantage...against foreign opponents with lower pings.

Even with solid netcode you still see "weird" things happen.

The most common is shooting an enemy...yet having him kill you instead.

From your perspective..you definitely shot first and he should be dead. Instead, his hits register and you're the one looking at the re-spawn screen.

It is very jarring for me coming out of a LAN multiplayer background. You will notice that in single player mode, this problem is non existent.

That is the reason we have made efforts to get local servers to fix the latency problems. Eliminate as much of the rubber banding, warping and "but I shot him first!" moments.

Don't get me wrong...for casual players...it will still be acceptable. Especially with decent netcode compensating for high latency. Trying its best to figure out who did what when and where and put it altogether in near realtime.

Titanfall having a lower player count is actually a good thing in that regard. Less players for the server to keep track of will definitely help. So don't throw away the xbox just yet. lol

Well Shaq, that is a double edged sword. Especially for us in the Caribbean.

On the one hand, a game using dedicated servers is usually a great thing.

On the other hand, when you can't have that dedicated server located in your country, it is a bad thing.

So in other words, if I'm playing Killer Instinct with another Trini and they offer me a peer to peer instead of dedicated....it would actually be faster. MUCH faster.

Games with a small number of players can get away with that easily. Fighters fit in this category.

I'm not making any excuses for that bot take-over fiasco. Same happened to me in Tetris of all things on PC. Not cool. AI playing against me as if it was a human. Good thing the other person was in the same room on a laptop, else we would have never known.

Imagine our surprise when we both won the same game" and realized we weren't actually playing against each other. lol.

Skynet is online.

@ Fire, yes we will live but it is far from ideal. You talking about CoD on xbox or CoD on PC?

Shiv I not even bothering, that same topic came up in this thread before and was thoroughly addressed and refuted by me and redlum who been playing d game since launch, so many moons later he coming with old article and talking shit bout bots as if he even have a clue, and he was d same man take part in the same discussion last year. So I ain't even bother to engage he. I'll just leave him to talk shit.
