Nokia Camera now available, combines Pro Cam and Smart Cam into one photo app



Nokia Camera is a free app that you can find here in the Nokia Collection of the Windows Phone Store

Nokia releases new versions of HERE Maps and HERE Transit

In HERE (version 3.5.481. Maps we've noticed a new logo has been added. That's not all, though. The main feature in this update is the ability to now save and group favourite places, sharing them across the HERE network. You can name new groups, move favourites around within said collection and arrange everything to your liking.

Again, much like HERE Maps, there's a shiny new Transit logo. The HERE Transit is a rather large update, so here's a handy bullet list of what's new (according to the store description):

• Customize your walking speed, preferred walking distance, number of changes and transport modes for better personalization
• Spot nearby stations with LiveSight for better orientation
• Get built-in, turn-by-turn walk directions in map and list view for door-to-door guidance
• See your favorites with one tap. Add and edit them with other HERE apps and on here.com
• Long-tap on a station on the Nearby screen to start journey directions

RAW support on a smartphone? It’s finally happening. This is a feature Juha and some members of Nokia has wanted for a long time. Why was it just now implemented? Feedback from professional photographers using devices like the Lumia 1520 gave Nokia the push to introduce RAW support. You’ll first only see it in the Lumia 1020 and 1520. What about other devices? He wouldn’t say, but we can’t imagine RAW files being useful on devices lacking the 20 and 41 megapixel sensors found in the both of those high-end phones.

Really? Besides the camera, I don't see anything hardware related that's hasn't already made it to recent android phones (LG G2). And FYI, the Note 3 has even better specs than this (more RAM, higher storage capacity option).

Build quality superior, the screen superior, built in wireless charging, superior camera, superior battery life, superior audio recording.

I'll give u ram and more storage options. (But since WP only need 1gb as is, having 3 is absolutely pointless. More storage is always better though, but I quite fine with 96GB.)

My soon-to-own Note 3 will still run rings around tha wannabe in terms of usage and functionality.
That 'phone' about as useful as a sandpaper dildo.

No proper YouTube app? What rock u been living under lolol.

I use MetroTube on both Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8, with full offline caching of videos, no adds, and overall a better experience than alyuh native YouTube app lololol.

And WP already run circles around android in terms of performance, now that it rocking that snappy 800, is Usain Bolt up in the dance.

But we not arguing which platform better, we could do that from now till yesteryear.
But one thing WP was lacking was indeed parity with next gen hardware, which it archive in spades, so Nokia's other advantages that had it keeping up, is just bonuses now. Like the PureMotion HD screen tech, d preview camera tech, etc.

I could come up with lots of reason why WP better, and u can come up with Lots of reason why Android better. (reasons Nokia rapidly reducing I mite add) But I not going to start other echo-system argument, the 1520 is d biggest, sexiest most powerful (yes, it more powerful than android devices with d same snappy) kid on the block, that takes the best pictures, have d sexiest screen with practical outdoor visibility with no lag. With built in Qi charging and cool accessories.   

Ah know alyuh men rel vex no Nokia tech for android u know, ah know that rel bunning alyuh, but tough, you guys just gonna have to eat it MS gone with Nokia.

Nexus 5 with kit Kat just around the corner. All gaps between android and all other platforms gonna widen even further in allllll aspects except maybe camera.... all for less than half the price of all others....Wait n see.

And Nokia outdoor screen tech has not been matched yet, so I doubt nexsus 5 will have them there. My old 920 running that same outdoor tech and nobody seem to catch up there yet.

No prices yet but I dont expect it to surpass $400 for the 32gb/3000mah battery model...

For $400, all the tech packed inside would be insane.

I like how u say probably, because I think the 1520 change that, go have to see a head-to-head.
Also, the rest of specs seems the same as 1520. Lets be honest, all these phones going to have the same base specs now.

I.e.:

Snapdragon 800, 2-3GB ram, 32GB with MicroSD.

All the flagships going to have that. So the lil extra touches is what going to differentiate in hardware now, because they're all the same. Things like Built in QI, Epic Camera, Build Quality and Design, Outdoor readability, screen refresh rate, battery life, audio quality, recording quality, etc etc etc. The lil cream-de-la-cream is what go set the devices apart when it comes to hardware now. And nokia wineing all over the competition when it comes to eeking out that extra lil piece of polish  / sparkle. Go see if the Nexus 5 offer anything like that.

When kit-kat release, go see what that brings to the table. But I still waiting for android to fix that "android jitter" I've come to loathe. But like I said before, we can argue eco-system and platform whole day.

But now that nokia has stepped up to 1080p/Snapdragon 800, I don't think any other manufacture (save maybe apple) can cetch them when it comes to hardware.

But, all that tech for 400$ ? yea, ill give yUh win they, GG no Re.

Ah aint post it because I aint get chance yet to absorb all the info on it, also, is Windows RT, and I know gatt cussing that, so why bother? lololol. I'll probably get around to doing a Surface 2 vs Lumia 2520 thing tonight.

The 2520 is epic, really sweet piece of gear, but MS kinda sell me on the Surface Design and the elegance of their keyboard covers, something nokia lacks. Their keyboards are good, but it aint sexy like MS own.
