Exactly. D only thing stopping me from pushing this corporate hard, is d fact that it have no local on island MS dealer. So warranty support going to be a bitch.

But the package is so attractive, I know certain clients will request the order regardless.

It surprising how much influence the technology we have as i.t. pros has on clients.
I went in to a client with my Sony Vaio SA one day, and the CEO like it and bought one.
Other techs serviced d client after that, but I had to make a visit, I walk in and almost everybody running Vaios lololol.

At which point d CEO see meh surface and wanted one. So I intro him to Surface Pro 2 and docking station setup. He going to get one.

And I know a few other clients who going to pull d trigger as well regardless of warranty issues.

One client actually request 2 docks, one for office with 2 monitors attached, and one home with 2 monitors attached. Surface serving as the central hub for everything.

If MS had the reach of dell and hp. they could make a killing with this pro line. Ah killing.
They have d reach when it comes to software, but hardware they rely infantile in the industry.

They need to step up their game and fast, because there is a market to be had, at the expense d dell and hp. (A market that have to be properly filled quick before android start winning up in MS enterprise juice.)

Latin America Surface Support, Microsoft, MAKE IT HAPPEN!

Yes, I would not lie. That is absolutely full of win.

And if it is corporate dollars being spent...and not my own pocket, would DEFINITELY recommend.

Also agreed, they need to soak up this new segment fast before google makes a proper push.

Microsoft definitely has the inside link and are head of the curve with their x86 hardware.

I keep reading bout O Win RT is this or that it whatever. But as a previous Surface RT owner, i can confidently say, as a Tablet OS' it runs circles around Android and iOS put together. I think because ppl see the word 'Windows' they automatically assume it would run all their legacy software. And Microsoft did a piss poor job at differentiating it. But its a tablet os. Designed to take on iPAD and Android in the ARM space. The only trump competing platforms have is their eco-system. Out of the box, Windows RT is in fact superior. I read in a previous reply on this thread, that poster was frustrated in not having a metro remote desktop app on his Surface. A Metro remote app was available from day 1 in the Store. I think Win RT has a place. And Win RT8.1 is even better. The Store is filling up fine with over 100,000 apps as compared to the 10,000 Surface originally launched with. I think its unfair to knock Windows RT for not being able to run x86 software when iOS and Android cant either. They all run on ARM SoCs. Ill b picking up a Surface2 soon. I don't need x86 on a tablet.

Rofl @ snoop pic.

@wyspa : fully agreed 100%. Windows RT 8.1 is epic. When I on the couch, or whenever I'm in tablet mode, I'm always 100% in Metro. The only time i really use desktop is in the office or by clients. And if the I.T. tools I need to function are made available in metro, I wont need the desktop on my tablet.

One thing I want them to add to rt though, give users the option to disable hydration on certain apps. That would be epic.

But yea, Surface 2 is ah Bess product, I hear that thing does get 15-16hrs battery life... my initial testing with pro 2 so far give me 6hrs40min average use. Impressive for d size and power. Time I add battery cover, I go be getting d same life as an iPad with d functionality of a desktop. Gg no re. But if I didn't need desktop, surface 2 is where id be, lighter, thinner, more life, cooler, etc, etc, etc.

Yeah.Surface2 battery life is impressive. Better than the 10hrs iPAD or anything else out there without a bettery-enhancing accessory. Lets give jack he jacket here. In the tablet space, Surface2 is a strong contender this holiday season.

Here is the problem...you say it is superior...but in no way did you give any details as to what exactly makes it superior???

Does it run angry birds better? Does it make my youtube videos shinier? Does it load webpages faster?

As is, a tablet does very little. It is a media consumption device and a web browser primarily.

I do not need Windows ANYTHING for that. the OS on an ipad and android device can do those things perfectly fine.

And that is the problem.....for a techie....for me to be excited about a tablet, it needs to do more...much much more....and that is what the Surface Pro can do.

Completely blow out the "dumb" ipad and android tablets. Offer a full desktop experience in a perfectly portable form factor. Marry that with the docking station unit Messiaah posted and BOOM!!!

A mobile device to end all mobile devices.

If the Windows Phone could achieve that in a few years, well look more trouble.

Dock your phone and is full windows available on your big screen and keyboard?

SOLD

Now of course, this is from the perspective of an old school techie.

There is a new world order, a revolution taking place. Where thin mobile apps, native to the web and cloud based are rising to supplant desktop apps.

Microsoft knows this and are positioning themselves well with Metro for the future. I understand that.

I still DON'T LIKE IT! lol

Lol, Wyatt go fight it down to d last desktop app, cyah blame yUh nah lolol.

But to answer ur question a littler, windows rt and the surface in particular can do a few things significantly better than competing tablets.

1. Productivity - Surface comes with office free : Word, Excel, OneNote, PowerPoint, Outlook. These alone are epic compared to competition. In addition, that brilliantly designed surface type cover allows u to transform ur Surface RT into a laptop form factor and get work done. Even apart from work, just chatting it feels so good u could just quickly keyboard up with kickstand and type away. Competition relies on accessories to even get close, and they all all bulky, clunky, and ugly, and reduces the mobile aspect alot.

2. UI - Windows 8 metro UI and Start adds dramatic functionality to tablet, running apps side by side, quickly swapping apps in grids, etch etc etc.

3. Synchronization with your tradional desktop via SkyDrive. : syncs start screen, files, settings, passwords, wireless networks, vpns, etch etc etc.

I could go on, but that's just a few things that surface better at. A vast majority of people wont need the full desktop experience to get those things, and that's what MS banking on. You as an old school tech go still play mannish lol,, but can't blame u for that. But apple recognizes MS new direction as a threat, its why they cuss MS at their even, even put up office logo on stage and thing lolol, made iworks free, etch etc etc. But MS owns enterprise, and they own productivity. YUh need to send a spreadsheet to another firm, yUh betters make sure it in excel or yuh wasting time. Etch etc etc.

Looking forward to 8.5, and windows 9, and the future. RT not there yet to replace desktop for old school, but it will get there eventually.

Most likely, that 'dota2.exe' is an x86 app, so no.
Windows RT runs on ARM CPUs, which have no x86 support.

tl;dr: no

No it mustn't.

What make you think when MS ill desktop, DOTA wont be made to run on metro?

Alyuh thinking now, but not the future.

How man games used to run on windows 2000 that couldn't run on 98 at first?

Come on, better than that, any game can be made to run if MS trashes desktop support.

YUh don't need the traditional desktop for that.

You sure???? be careful with those words....lol

btw, I got some hands on with the RT and Surface tablets today.

You could definitely feel the need for more horse power in the RT unit.

The Surface wasn't bad. The keyboard wasn't my style at all. The tactile feedback wasn't sufficient.

Would prefer to stick with the onscreen keyboard and use a proper desktop keyboard via a dock.

Like the setup you posted earlier. Getting goosebumps thinking of the potential for that setup in the business place.

Yes I'm sure,  code is code, once u have d hardware to run the games u want it wont matter.

Remember, in Microsoft eyes, what we calling windows rt. Is what them calling windows, and what we calling windows, they calling the windows desktop. In the future there will be no desktop, it will be an app, like dos. Once a full OS, now an app.

When that time comes yUh d'oh think it go still have PC games?

The arm based devices wont be able to run the heavy hitters of corse, but that's just a matter of hardware limitation, they can code software to do anything. They cud have "Windows" without the desktop, running on x86 hardware playing all d games u play now the same way, just installed from the windows store which unified with Xbox, and launched from the start screen?

Ah mean seriously, this is simple stuff. And its where Microsoft going.

And the original RT was crap,....I repeat , crap! For performance, why do u feel I hate tegra so much? The surface rt runs tegra 3.

Surface 2 on the other hand runs tegra 4, and I heard its much improved, still skeptical, but I hear 4 rel boss.

Also, which keyboard u test , cause there are 2, a touch based one with no Tactile feedback, called the touch cover. And the keyboard with real keys, the type cover. The one with real keys works as good for me as any laptop keyboard I've ever used..... so don't know if u tested the wrong keyboard.

Check my unboxing above, u go see the 2 versions
