Issue 1

KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED

Doing a bunch of trouble shoots. Spoke to MS IT at work and got some more info. Boiled down to a number of issues that could all be a pain in the ass to fix. Some help if possible would be appreciated

a) 680 GTX X2 - one or both could be bad
b) RAM could be damaged
c) Graphics or other Driver issue


Issue 2

DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG

Getting this when running BF3 or MOH from Origin. I'm seeing this is VERY apparent all over the place, and advice is all over the place. Any help would be appreciated.

The last Nvidia driver started breaking GPU's from what I read.  Well, driver v320.49 at least, not sure if they updated since then. Reports of it causing temperatures to sore beyond regular.

Monitor your GPU temps during gaming and see if this problem is affecting you.

If that's the case, I advise rolling back your drivers and see if it helps. If not, try using the cards individually and determine if the crashes are still happening.

If it's not the GPU, then test the ram.

Did running it as 'administrator' help?
I'm running Windows 8 as well, and I've never had to do that.  Then again, my user profile has admin rights anyway.

The 'DXGI' in that error is DirectX related, which would have pointed me in the direction of bad drivers or a bad/corrupted driver installation.

Try using the latest WQHL driver.
Uninstall the old driver completely with an old app called Driver Sweeper: http://www.guru3d.com/content_page/guru3d_driver_sweeper.html
(Use Driver Sweeper AFTER the official Nvidia uninstaller of course)

Make sure you check the 'perform a clean installation' box when you're reinstalling the driver.

Ah.....I recall all too well my heady early days of crashing to the desktop with Battlefield 3. Despite every other game on my rig running absolutely rock solid.

Turned out to be a nasty memory leak. The fix was as follows:

Problem 2:
The game crash randomly after about 15/20 minutes.

Solution:
-Press start
-Click "all programs"
-Click "accessories"
-RIGHT click "command prompt" and click "Run As Admin"
-Type in the command windows "bcdedit /set increaseUserVa 3072" as always without the "
-Reboot

That problem went away when I switched from 32bit Windows to 64bit Windows on my gaming rig. I'm certain you are already on 64bit Windows so YMMV

Thanks Ill check these out. I left the PC to "soak" today. I left WoW running (at least the login screen), opening Origin and left it on and opened a few tabs in Explorer. If I crash its probably a RAM issue, unless the dump says otherwise.

We shall see. Last night I

1. Performed a full scan with Norton 360 (havent done that in months) - found/repaired 6 errors
2. Did a disk optimization on all drives
3. opened and reseated all the RAM and GFX cards just incase

We shall see...

lol, fewls.

Guess 100,000 other people and myself needed new PCs.

But yeah, I would not have upgraded my PC were it not for Battlefield 3.

Everything else was running perfectly on the 3ghz Core 2 Duo with 4GB of Ram and the 6970 at the time.

It also inspired my investment in SSDs. To cut down on those ridiculous loading times.

So out of evil commeth good.

So some updates

*knocks on wood aka bamboo/pitchpine/purplehart etc..*

The admin check for the *.exe files seems to have resolved the playing of Origin games, thanks for that Wyatt.

I left the PC on all day yesterday, no issues. I understand through some people that Chrome has a NASTY memory leak that can mess up gameplay at times, I switched to and am dealing with Explorer (eh too bad yuh know)

Fingers crossed that the issue is resolved. The Norton 360 full sweet found 6 issues, it could have been any one of them.

I am using the new Beta NVIDIA drivers atm. Ill use it till im finished with Splinter Cell (since this driver supports SLi for that game, current ones seem to not like it as much) and then follow Arcmans instructions on a clean wipe of the drivers and reinstall the most recent

Unless I should avoid those.

Funny, because I'm using the 320.49 driver with no issues.
