QOS help Plz
« on: June 29, 2013, 02:05:36 PM »
Having a problem with my home network:

Once anyone is watching a video, streaming, torrenting etc. gaming simultaneously is impossible.

i have a 2Mb connection shared on 4 machines but as soon as 1 person starts to watch video everyone elses' connection becomes useless.

from research i've read about QoS on the router but am not sure how to go about doing that.

Pretty much what i'm hoping to achieve is for Browing and Gaming to have Highest priority on the network and video streaming to have lowest.

attached is a printscreen of my QoS settings but everything in there seems like Jibberish to me.

plz help <3

P.S. it's a DHCP Network (if that information is relevant)

I have solved this particular problem with my Asus RT16 router.

Using Tomato firmware, my QOS is setup to limit all of the other computers on my network to 500kbps

Leaving the rest of the bandwidth for my gaming machine.

Works beautifully.

They can stream or browse as much as they want, my ping and gaming experience still forges on smoothly.

Do you have a router that can run Tomato? Or are you just using the TSTT supplied device?
