Space Battleship Yamato 2199

I'm not sure how many of you are old enough to remember the anime 'Starblazers' that the old TTT used to show (on Tuesdays, right before Star Trek)
in the early to mid eighties.  That show was basically a redub of the anime series Space Battleship Yamato.








A new TV series is coming (A THOUSAND TIMES YES!!!), and it's preceded by this 50 minute feature...






Is it wrong that manly tears were shed? 
This one really takes me back.  I am SO glad to see that this series is getting a revival.  SBY is one of those
iconic 70s/80s shows that helped nurture the sci-fi fan in me, so this is somewhere right up there with heaven. 

I literally CANNOT WAIT for this.

Just found out that StarBlazers is on Netflix.

So I watched the 2010 movie...

If you're a fan of the anime...you won't be disappointed.
The filmmakers condensed what was several story arcs into one movie...and it shows,
because this space epic clocks in at 2 hrs and 18 mins...but it checks all the right boxes (well, for me at least).

Big starships?      check
Lasers?               check
Missile swarms?   check
Fighters?             check

...you can tell where I'm going with this. 

...and the icing on the cake of course...one of the most iconic spaceships in sci-fi as the glorious centrepiece of it all.

*sigh*

*wipes tear*

The first ten...that's right... TEN episodes of this 'new' series are available for acquisition.

The quality of the animation is absolutely  GLORIOUS...but maybe that's just my SBY bias talking.

Anime fans...this is NOT to be missed.

Episodes 11-22 of this 26-episode opus are 'available'.

The original series is now very hard to find, but don't worry...this 'reboot' follows the original story almost shot-for-shot.
Absolutely STELLAR production-value here.
