Exactly.

I fedup tell Messiaah he is a special case all by himself.

The laws of financial sensibilities obviously don't apply to him.

The man HTPC setup alone is the cost of a regular GATT member's entire house. lol

Don't even mention the cost of his gaming rig and audiophile gear.

A cheap headphones for Messiaah is like US$1000.00

A  cheap headphones for everyone else is more around TT$75.00

So as much as the graph not very scientific.....it follows the definition of hard core PC gaming used by the normal world population.

An average US$500 Steam Machine is not something a "Hard Core" pc gamer will own. They will snuff at the thought.

(As many have on this very forum and in the GATT chat)

At that price point, you looking to compete with the casual crowd and average PC gamer. Turn key box (like a console).

No assembly (nor PhD) required

And what is your graph showing exactly???? Remember the prophecy speaks of the rise of the consoles....I am not seeing consoles juxtaposed against PCs there?

This article speaks of the prophecy right here.

http://www.digitaltrends.com/gaming/future-gaming-still-belongs-consoles/

Citing sales of consoles games as easily beating PC 10 to 1

And remember Windows sales has absolutely nothing to do with gaming rigs being eclipsed by consoles because needless to say, a lot of crappy computers out there run windows. It does not directly equate to the sales of gaming capable computers (which is on the downturn as the previous article on the decline in discreet GPUs suggests)

I like how the article blames Battlefield 4. lol

Though they didn't really hit the nail on the head. BF4 was the chosen one. The defining moment to prove once and for all why consoles are wtfpwned by PCs. To make every gamer who dropped US$2000+ on their rig laugh at the console infidels with underpowered tiny machines trying to play this masterpiece.

We all know how that turned out. It took a lot of wind out of the PCs sails (and sales). Even transformed some of our most stalwart aficionados into haters of the game. (Still in shock over that)

Battlefield 4 dropped from 80,000+ concurrent players on PC to 40,000+ in a month. Here are the full stats from peak time earlier this year.

PC
43,409
PS3
52,076
XBOX360
51,191
XBOXONE
41,751
PS4
48,922

Ouch...did I say rise of the consoles in 2015?? Looks like it has already happened.

Collectively the consoles have 4 times as many players as the PC. Amazing that the PS4 is beating the PC already and it JUST launched. How is that even possible??

Also, what the article got right....is that Steam Machines represents the greatest hope for the platform and ironically....because it transforms the traditional gaming PC into a....drum roll.........console.

So let me get this straight. You can post PC Sales Drop and tie that directly to PC Gaming Demise, and all how we try to show you, drop in PC sales != drop in PC gaming. But you still post figures galore. But when I post how massive the windows market share is, that irrelevant? Come man. Fair is fair. Every lil negative thing alyuh find about PC, regardless of how unrelated, is posted. But when I post real facts, it thrown out? Nah. Atal.

The Windows OS market share is very relevant. And you prophesied PC gaming AND PC itself going to be dead soon to be replaced by mobile. Anyways.

More fire:

Ah know this one not directly related, but here it is:

Microsoft Reports Record Quarterly Revenues of $24.52 Billion
http://windowsitpro.com/paul-thurrotts-wininfo/microsoft-reports-record-quarterly-revenues-2452-billion

It have plenty men out there (trinishaq you is #1 right now :laughing7:) who always crying doom and gloom for Microsoft. AND I keep telling ppl, MS fine. Them men making money. There are the cold facts right there.

..

Now back to pricing.
A cheap headphones for me is not $1000, is like 100-200$ , a moderate headphones is like ~$300-400, a high end headphones go be like 4-550. When you hit $600 on a headphones, ill call that extreme. But headphones have diminishing returns the higher you go, and the higher you go, is the more beastly of source and amplification you need. A $1000 headphones is very much high end. When you jump from 1000 to 2000, you gone from 90% to 95% audio improvement. That 5% is worth 1000$ for audiophiles.

A cheap PC is $500, a midrange is maybe $800-1000 , high end is $1500+

Now back to Wyatt, that graph you posted is so vague, so irellevent it not even funny. We have NO IDEAD what them referring to as hard-core PC. I personally think a hardcore PC is 2500$+ , most of the internets think the same. If them thinking the same, then how little hard-core PCs it have, is meaningless, because the hard-core PC is a very minute sub-section of "PC gaming" but without any facts, or information on their data, we can't say. So that graph is completely pointless.

Again with those numbers. Those numbers are pointless. We know console have more numbers, it's been that way for DONKEY years. So what? That don't mean PC gaming dying. I've posted many charts and graphs where PC gaming has actually risen. Valve just recently broke all kinda records for how many active steam users they had. AND how many subscriptions. To put it into context:

Quote
Xbox Live, watch out: It’s full Steam ahead for Valve.

Bellevue-based Valve says its Steam video-game platform now has 65 million active accounts — 30 percent growth in the past year.

Those are free accounts, but in raw numbers, the growth propels Steam past Xbox Live, which now has 48 million users after launching in Nov. 2002. The Xbox Live number includes both free and paid (Xbox Live Gold for $60/year) accounts.

PC gaming has GROWN and is GROWING and you still fighting down talk bout how much gamers online in COD?
I've said time and time again, console can be huge, and more than PC, but it don't mean PC DYING! It not dying guys, it's grown and growing and getting bigger, better easier, cheaper.

It have Nuff Toyota's in the world, that means Mercedes suffering? NO!

And as far as OS market share goes, the console market share is just a fraction of mobile figures. And mobile figures is just a fraction of windows. We don't need consoles on that chart I posted because they wouldn't even break the 1% line. And with a gigantic massive ridiculous lead in OS market share like that.
With MS making gangbusters profits
With Valve BOOMING!
With NVIDIA raking in billions in profits.

With the most important tech giants that have the most to gain from PC gaming doing so so well.
In a time when it suppose to be one of the worse years for PC sales. AND men making so much money.
How on earth can men actually be WORRIED for PC gaming, or prophesy it's demise?

Sigh.

Semantics will be your undoing boy Messiaah...true talk.

So windows sales are stable. By itself, great.

As an indication of high end gaming machines? Not so much.

A direct indicator of that would be the sale of discrete graphics cards....which the numbers show to be on the decline.

We already established that our definition of PC gaming is the high end.

Naturally, low end gaming isn't going anywhere and is in fact on the rise.

What do I mean by that?

League of Legends, Dota, plants vs zombies, train simulator, etc....

All can be run on low end machines, laptops and even tablets. The VAST majority of players on Steam are playing these kind of games. Not exactly Mt. Olympus qualifications.

For example,

Dota 2: 600,000 players

Call of Duty Ghosts: 10,000 players

Lihixxxxxxxxxxxxxx

The prophecy is this:

Consoles Rise: Circa 2015 (Surpasses PC as platform of choice for hard core gamers)

Mobile rise: Circa 2022 (Surpasses Consoles as platform of choice for hard core gamers)

You are right in saying that consoles have already achieved mainstream success....but there was a chance that PC would steal that thunder after the xbox 360 and ps3 got long in the tooth.

That chance is now. STEAM has two years to do it (No one else is even trying)

I'll definitely do my part to help them get there because they will need as much of it as they can get.

As for the rise of one not meaning the fall of the other.....tell that to Palm Pilot, THQ, Atari, Black Berry and all the other industry giants that are dead / dying while others flourish wildly.

There is a very REAL opportunity cost at play.

Microsoft is very concerned about Google and for good reason. The trajectory shows them ruling the future. You may want to ignore trends when I post them Messiaah but Microsoft isn't that naive. Even going so far to consider offering their software for free to mitigate the rise of mobiles on the competitor's platform.

http://www.theverge.com/2013/12/11/5199446/microsoft-considers-free-versions-windows-phone-windows-rt

Gabe isn't either. He is taking affirmative action to stave the rise.

Smart guy.

1. OS market share is very irrelevant, windows is in almost every pc.

2.I know microsoft makin money brother man, the doom and gloom is for xbox.

3.Them thing from valve can't be taken seriously ,because you sign in to steam just by powering up. You yourself stated xbl members had the most play time yet xbl only has 48 mil users. That is less than half  of psn and almost half of steam.

I understand where your coming from though and I agree with you.PC gaming doing fine even though consoles doing better.

Those people you say die, was not a genere , or a general piece of technology. It was specific companies. Just like Sega dead, does that mean consoles dead? No, it mean Sega dead. Specific smartphone makers die, but that don't mean smartphone as a platform die. When you break it down specifically into the sub divisions, it only have so much market to be had. So Samsung eating all the android cheese now, at the expense of HTC. But if HTC goes belly up, that does mean the death of mobiles? Of course not. Palm gone mean the death of smartphones? No. Blackberry ? NO.
Atari mean d death of consoles? No. THQ mean the death of publishers? No.

And I agree that discrete GPUs is plenty relevant to high end gaming. But PC sales is not. And you have time and time again listed PC Sales decline as a key indicator to where PC Gaming is headed. The GPU thing is acceptable, I could see that having direct relation. But poor PC sales don't mean boo. And you've listed those many many many times. So why I can't list windows market share?

Anyways. PC gaming as a platform don't have to die for mobile gaming to be a thing. Or console to be a thing.

@ Shaq , I agree that windows market share is irrelevant, just like PC sales irellvent, but PC sales used all the time on the other side of the argument, so hold windows markeshare too :laughing7:

@ Shaq, MS profit was thanks in path to the rise of the Xbox and surface divisions... so no doom and gloom there either. Sony sold 4.2 Million, MS sold some 3.9.....not far behind, and @ 100$ more than Sony. No doom and gloom there either.

@ Shaq, your last point is exactly what I trying to get across. PC gaming is FINE! It's been doing fine, its continuing to do fine, past few years it has gotten better and better. Yes consoles doing better. Nobody saying no. But I saying is, PC doing good too. Because consoles doing so good it mean PC dead? Of course not.

Back to Wyatt:

And no, Microsoft and valve ain't stupid, if they see a threat they not going to sit back and let it happen. Again, that don't mean PC Gaming dead. 2 Massive tech giants, who making SOOOOOO much money, go just sit back and watch their profits go belly up? No. MS will do what they have to do, Valve will do what they have to do. Dell go do what they have to do. All players involved will. It don't have to work no. But the market and profits way too healthy to be bumping gum bout PC Gaming Dead. Man was rooting for BB right up until the end. Even when they was loosing millions, man still saying BB could come back. And that's just 1 company by it self. Nokia was d same, men was suffering yearly massive losses, and watch Nokia still there. You talking bout 2 tech giants who not suffering losses, but quite the opposite, who have a very healthy and vested interest in both console and PCs, and they go just let the platform die? No.

PC Gaming is fine. And come 2015, the best games will still be available on PC. We go have the best graphics, the more powerful machines, the more modular and scalable system. We go have the freedom to do what d hell we want with our machines, and all the other fun stuff that the PC platform brings.

For the hundreth time....the two arguments are separate....why do you insist on joining them?

I did not mention the death of PC gaming, not even once in my response.

Mercy Mr. Manning, Mercy.

The title of the thread is the RISE of the Machines. The prophecy speaks to the rise of consoles and mobiles.

Notice, no mention of the death of PCs. That is a separate thread altogether. lol

If you now saying its separate then we go roll with that.

but why you post gpu sale drop in this dread is beyond me lolol, according to u, that should be in the other thread right? Lol

if all this thread is about is consoles and mobile getting better then yes, they have, and will, and will continue very healthy into the future. Take win. Lolol.

Buh aye aye. I saying it separate from the get go.

you assumed it was the same argument

Remember...most mobile devices powered by an apu or soc.

Any shift in that direction is a boon. Apparently both Intel and amd onboard with taking the industry in that direction (pun intended)

Dude, I didn't post that to show who ontop, clearly sony sold more consoles. But MS own cost $100 more, so who made more money ? And even that is besides d point. D point I was making is, with 3million consoles sold, no doom and gloom for Xbox. Sony coulda sell 6 million, wouldn't make a difference to my point.

I did not see your point before ninja edit, But the math not right MessiaaH. Let's use whole numbers as we don't have exact figures and don't know how many were base models vs bundles. So let's do the math, 3.0x10^6 x $500 = $1.5B compared to 4.0x10^6 x $400 = $1.6B,  $1.6B - $1.5B = $100M. I don't know about you but 100 Million is nothing to wag a finger at. Even if Sony sold 6 million, that would only widen the revenue gap.

lol, Sony in front and these men won't let you forget it boy Messiaah.

But I know what you trying to say....that right now the pie is big enough for everyone.

Certainly that is proving to be true

Consoles have long lowered the barrier to entry for hard core gaming. Making Call of Duty and Battlefield accessible to the lay man without the need of a high end PC.

Nextgen is going to continue that trend and with their marketing wars, they will convert more and more of the casual and non gamers into our fold.

More men (and women) in the sweat.

On that I think we can all agree.

Thank you Wyatt,

Slamming break out algebra all kinda thing, laws have mercy.

Guys, who making more money, who selling more consoles, who "winning" is completely irrelevant.
My point was not meant to post Xbox or MS in some kinda "winning" light.

My point was meant to convey that d men doing just fine. No do and gloom.
Market big enough for everybody. 3 million consoles sold and man ready to sign MS death warrant?

Wyatt, I dont think they see when I post "Sony winning" Lolo, that's not d argument, I concede that long time.

Must be. My sweet ps4 box of win, PRECIOUS!!! PRECIOUS!!! LOL.

Don't take my ramblings as fanboyism, it's just good to see gaming progressing on a whole and In the long run we all win.
